Work was good today. Got out a bit early so I could pick up my mom at the airport. Had time to visit with some people I knew. Caught up with gossipy things.

My mother's plane was an hour late, so she went to TJ Maxx while I went to my shrink appointment. That went... all right. I've decided to work on my interpersonal issues. Yeah. There was interesting talk there. Meh.

Erm. Globat just sent me an email saying they were going to automatically upgrade me to the Terabyte Plus plan if I didn't opt out. Uh. Excuse me? I really don't need to wate $30 on some randomness I don't need. kthnx.

In other news....

Tickets for the May 22 screening of Boondock Saints will be on sale May 5th.

Ben Browder interview at Gateworld. I love him. He is so smart and makes me very, very happy. Also> The people at Gateworld are still tools. Seriously. What is with those questions?

via [livejournal.com profile] logansrogue: Stephen Colbert at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Okay, Colbert, I love you a little bit more.

And because I keep forgetting to link: Richard Dean Anderson's MasterCard commercial. Which is kinda funny.

I had heard about it, but not read the actual article. [livejournal.com profile] alorarose just sent me the link. Dirk Benedict has some serious issues. Starbuck is a woman; get over it, man.

Threadless is having another sale and I am... really tempted. Okay, yeah, I totally just bought this, this, and this. They have Afternoon Delight in baby blue! Erm. Okay, No. I'm not getting it. I'm good with the first three...

This will probably get me in trouble, but I kinda agree, only in part, with Dirk Benedict. I was there for the original Battlestar Gallactica, and hey, when they announced the new series, I couldn't see Starbuck as a female at all. The characterization was all wrong. Now to be perfectly honest, I haven't watched the new show, mainly because of that fact. I do know from what I have read on the web, it is a much darker show that the original, but hey these are darker times in scifi. It's like comparing Lost In Space to Atlantis. The productions are better and the techniques are way better. Gee a cheap robot compared to a whole city that does your bidding....whose going to win. I totally disagree with his characterzation that women can't do as well as men in parts. THAT'S UTTER BULL! but I do wonder if the remakes don't take away from the originals somewhat, not only BG but others as well. I also agree that Hollywood has lost it's creative mind, that's why we have so many remakes of the classics, can't these guys come up with new classics of their own. Hope I didn't offend to much, just wanted to get my two cents in as well.

Uh, hello random person!!

I'm also a fan of the original BSG and was skeptical when I saw Starbuck was female. I didn't watch the new BSG for over a year because of that fact. Then I watched an episode and realized I was wrong to assume Kara wasn't a good character. You need to take the new show as a completely different show and appreciate it for the nice mix of what's familiar and what's completely new.

You also have to realize that Richard Hatch has a very strong hand in this remake. These aren't just random people who wanted to make money on a remake. Dirk just needs to get the stick out of his ass and actually watch an episode.

That's the part of his rant that really burns me. I do understand his frustration with not being allowed to play a dark hero, but that was the way of TV then. There's being upset and then there's holding a grudge against people had nothing to do with him being upsetin the first place. *shrug*
