This morning I worked a bit on the letters I'm sending the SGA cast along with the prints. Writing is hard :x Got 5 of 12 done. Stopped by Target on the way home to get mailers for them, so hopefully I can get everything printed and shipped next week. Target, for anyone who is interested in that sort of thing, had over a dozen copies of Advent Children while Best Buy didn't know when they'd be getting more in. Guess who owns a copy now?

Decided today would be movie day, so I took [livejournal.com profile] seijitataki to see Silent Hill and RV. I wanted to see V For Vendetta, but unfortunately it had already cycled out.

Oh, before I get into the reviews, the ad I saw before Silent Hill made the whole trip worth it: Boondock Saints will be showing at participating theaters for one night only on May 22 at 8pm. I hope Crossgates is going to show it because I need to go. Like burning. Who wants to come with me?! [livejournal.com profile] queenmaab? Anyone?! The next day they'll be releasing a special edition DVD.

Anyway, back to Silent Hill. [livejournal.com profile] spubba was totally right. I cringed a couple times during the movie, but it wasn't nearly as scary as I thought it was going to be. It was just really bloody and kind of ridiculous. First of all, the mother was completely ridiculous and I spent most of my time muttering, "you dumb bitch" as she was running around a haunted town by herself with no weapons and ditches the cop, the only other normal person who has a weapon. You're alone in a town with creepy things that want to kill -- get a weapon or something! Are you stupid?! And then you totally ditch the one person who can help you stay alive and find your creeptastic kid. Smart, lady. Really smart. By the end, I was kinda hoping that she'd bite it. No such luck. And they don't even escape the creepy ghost world. Poor Sean Bean is left to pine for his wife and creepy adopted kid. *woe*

edit: oh.. and I forgot.. what was up with the tentacle rapage?! o_O

Other fandom connections: Radha Mitchell played Fry in Pitch Black and Mary Ansell Barrie in Finding Neverland. Laurie Holden was Maria Covarrubias in The X-Files. Kim Coates played Lars Etsen in Thoughtcrimes. Jodelle Ferland played Kirsti in the pilot episode of Dead Like Me and will be in Stargate: Atlantis this year.

After a quick lunch at the food court and a stop at Best Buy, we headed to the next film, which was RV, the new Robin Williams family comedy. It was... amusing. I have to say I enjoyed it and I haven't really liked a Robin Williams film in a long time. Good fun. Go see it.

Random fandom connections: Rob LaBelle has been in episodes of Star Trek: Voyager, First Wave, and Smallville. Brian Markinson played Agent Bernal in Touching Evil and was also in Dark Angel, The X-Files, ST:TNG, DS9, VOY, and Stargate: SG-1. Richard Ian Cox played Dr. Gaul on Stargate: Atlantis as well as voicing a load of animated characters.

And that was pretty much my day. How are all of you?

Did you figure out how they died? I had to have a friend explain it to me, lol.

I don't think they died, although some people do. I think they were pulled into another dimension, or some sort of ghost limbo. It's hard to tell either way in any case.

I was talking to my horror-moviebuff friend and he thought they died in that car accident in the beginning. Interesting to think about. I was excited to see Sean Bean.

Oh, and how did you like RV? I took my brother and sister to see it and they loved it. I thought it was fantastic. I just <3 Robin Williams.
