Yay for lunchtime fun with queenmaab!

Due to the massive bill from the hospital, I was feeling a little own today. The solution? Retail therapy! :x Went to Crossgates and had a look at some clothes (everything was crap) and ended up at Best Buy where I picked up Farscape: Starburst Edition 3.2 and 3.3 as well as a copy of Resident Evil: Apocalypse. The commentaries on Farscape are of course what gets me every time, plus, I never made it past 3.1 in the original DVD release. So. Yay!!

thebigfatman - I did not see Slither on the boards at Crossgates!! *woe*

Decided today that I am going to be sending the SGA cast stuff this year and will also be sending something to Ben & Claudia. What exactly it is, I'm not sure. I might cheat a bit and send the SGA cast Three Fates art because... erm.. hey, it's SGA inspired! Sort of.

Met with Brian V at the diner. We just had drinks and desserts (tea and cheesecake for me!) as it was early in the afterrnoon. We ended up talking and catching up on stuff for almost two hours. Heh. It was kinda cool.

Came home and discovered that my duster was delivered! *gleeeeee* It is soooo pretty and lovely and fits awesomely and guh. I love it so. It's kind of too bad that it's starting to get warmer and I won't really be able to wear it much -- but I sure will try!

Oh the duster coolness. I managed to snag something similar in cut whilst in Florence a few years back. More because there is nothing like a good duster in the cooler months, and hey Florence... but still. 'Tis of the pretty.

You are on my flist because .... your art for Fates was (is even) really very cool, there is the whole SGA thing, the whole having neat things to say and being generally an interesting read. Yup, I think that is it.

Well I think anything I have to say is so far beyond boring that it is near Pegasus. Basically you are not me and do have interesting things to say and well, QED. :P Anyway, *waves around* other people agree with me and we out number you.

It is a cool duster in Farscape though, and it suits your size/frame really well.

I randomly happened upon "amezri" on Google and recogised it. Why are you so excited about a duster? Are dusters different things in the US and the UK? Here a duster is, well, something you use to dust. Like a rag, covered in dust. Usually yellow. Why is this exciting?

Ah, well, here we call a long overcoat a duster. I think it's a particular style of overcoat/trenchcoat, though I'm not exactly sure what makes a duster a duster, so I looked it up and this is what Wikipedia says:

A duster is a light, loose-fitting coat.

The original dusters were full-length, light-colored canvas or linen coats worn by horsemen to protect their clothing from trail dust. These dusters were typically slit up the back to hip level for ease of wear on horseback. At the turn of the 20th century, both men and women wore dusters to protect their clothes when riding in open motorcars on the dirt roads of the day. In the 1950s, a duster was a woman's knee-length, button-front unfitted housecoat which could be thrown on over underwear for housework or cooking.

(Which is a transient state of things and prone to change in any case, fannishness coming and going as it does.)
