Okay, I have to admit, I never watched Enterprise really, but that opening shot of Connor! Awww. So confused!
I sortof wish I didn't know a crapload of spoilers for this episode before hand because then I'd be going "bwah?!" along with the rest of them instead of, "oh, come on, he's a Wraith that you... did that to." So I'm probably going to go through and pick up a lot of things that should clue you in and whatnot.
Carson and his tricky medical mumbo jumbo. Would they even let someone with Type 2 Diabetes in the Air Force or Marines?
Heh. Michael's "Are we friends?" and Teyla's sort of stiff "Yes..."
*snort* They tell Michael that he's from Texas. This amuses me a lot. As does Rodney missing his blue jello. 8 minutes before we see Rodney and he has an awkward conversation with Rodney. Who is a HORRIBLE LIAR.
The sparring with Teyla was interesting. You know... kicking his ass. I mean, teaching. And then Ronon comes in and throws him against a wall. Because, you know, Ronon hates Wraith liekwhoa.
They're being careful with you, Michael, because they don't want you to turn back into a Wraith and get eaten. Maybe.
Oh, man. Beckett's asleep and Michael takes the disks and... he watches the video and he looks SO SAD. And Sheppard named another Wraith!
Michael: So what are you saying? Being a Wraith is some sort of a disease.. something you can cure? What gives you the right to do this to me?
Everyone say it with me: MORAL AMBIGUITY
They angst over torture, but experimenting on Wraith to turn them into humans? Oh yeah, sure that's all right. No problem.
And you know... this episode KICKS ASS, even though it's kind of predictable.
Well, crap. Stunning him and continuing treatments on the Alpha Site and of course he TAKES TEYLA HOSTAGE. Ronon? Is so going to KILL HIM. A LOT.
And again, Teyla is SO SMART. Writing down the symbols. Werd.
P.S. The Pegasus DHD is way prettier than the Milky Way one.
Okay, seriously, you should have done the testing on the Alpha Site to begin with, you shmucks.
Season 2 is seriously kicking all sorts of ass. This episode, as much as I may rag on it, was awesome. It was yeah, scientifically unsound and Carson was a bit mad scientist, but I liked it a lot. I did like the fact that they showed the team doing what they thought was necessary to... survive? To beat the Wraith? Weir is all broken up about maybe torturing someone who could be a Trust agent who planted a bomb on Atlantis, but doing a genetic experiment on a Wraith? No. Problem. I get that there is a war and I get the Wraith would rather eat you than talk to you, but this isn't like tweaking a tomato so it ships better. This is some serious stuff and the only who is pissed about it is Ronon.
Though, I suppose everyone was in character. Ronon hates Wraith and just because this one is walking around in a human suit it doesn't mean he could forget what he was. His reaction to Ellia made his behavior here pretty predictable. Teyla... she's always the reasonable and maybe she was a bit more sympathic since her line was experimented on by the Wraith; and she's just more reasonable anyway. That or she fakes it better. I really liked her scene with Michael in the cell. Sheppard is a good liar. He's really perfected that mask he wears and it comes in damn handy here, but you can still see the tension there when he was interacting with Michael. Rodney.. is just a terrible liar, really. Weir was the worst one. I like her sometimes, I really do. This was not one of those times. The writers always have her slinging around these moral speeches and suddenly she's here really supporting this experiment. And to me, her talk with Carson was a little... gleeful. Or something. I dunno. I know she was trying to make Carson feel less guilty, but she just seemed... wrong. I dunno. Is she a Goa'uld? That would explain... something?!
