new layout; fandom card

After a few weeks of fiddling with graphics and a few days messing with code, my new LJ layout is done. DONE. I think. Some of the things I can't decide if I'm happy with, like the text color and the images in the surveillance box. The laptop screen is tweaking out my eyes.

It's Atlantis inspired. The text on the top buttons and side menu are purposefully distorted to look mildly like Ancient. I also created new public/locked/private icons, which I put in the upper right corner of the entry box. The load time on this thing is much longer than I'd like, though not noticable if you're on high speed. The images in the surveillance box on the bottom of the left column changes on refresh. It's suposed to be sort of scratchy and grainy like... surveillance video. I'm not sure how well that works. The biggest pain in the ass was recoding the calendar to match the layout because I used to just copy & paste so this time I had to actually figure out how it was all layered.

In other news, I got my fandom holiday card in the mail today. It's from Rodney and it is too. cute. So, I want to thank whomever did a whole lot. Totally made my day.

I like the top graphic, and the color scheme, and the way you got the buttons to match up so that it looks like holes punched through a matte grey surface to show the image behind it.
