work; dvd player!!
Dec. 14th, 2005 11:34 pmI know I complain about the job and my boss endlessly, but I have to clarify one thing: I like her a lot as a person and I even like her well enough as a coworker. It's just that her management skills hurt me. A lot. Today was actually a pretty decent day since we closed the shop at 7:30pm and spent th rest of the time upstairs at the party. It was... entertaining. The food was decent and there were free drink tickets, but I only used mine to get a soda and gave the rest away. There was jazz band music and silly dancing (not by me, no) and silly chatting. Rick, the IT guy, was pretty sloshed and he stopped by to talk to me. After he left, a coworker asked me if he had a girlfriend and I said I didn't think so. She said, "you two look good together." Uhm. *mortified* And the boss lady says, "he's a nice boy... but we're not trying to set you up..." in a way that sounded like she was thinking about it though. Gah. I dunno. It's not that I don't like him; I do. I just don't know if I could deal with long term exposure. Of course, I haven't had a conversation with him that lasted more than 5 minutes and to be fair he is easy on the eyes. Uhm. But not going there.
Oh, during my shift, Katie Nare stopped in to check out some of her stuff. She makes the coolest beaded items. I love this princess bracelet she once made. Anyway, she asked about these photos or watercolors she saw before, the ones in cool acrylic frames. Uh. Hold crap, those were mine!! I had her wait a few moments so Berta could bring them out, but finally she just couldn't wait anymore. So... I gave her my URL and she said she'd e-mail meand maybe we could do a swap. Sweet!
So.. that Phillips DVD player I ordered two days ago came in. Already! I wasn't expecting it until tomorrow. Set it up right away, of course and it plays real nice. Mostly. I had some issues with wmv files (they don't play) and some avi files display funny until I change the format (NTSC or Multi). But yes, it works and it's pretty and it's tiny and... the one big gripe I have is that the disc tray is really shallow, so you have to make sure the disc is in there before you close the tray or it might get stuck. And it feels like really cheap plastic. I'm keeping the packaging and stuff for a while just to make sure I don't need to return it. But overall? I dig it and am a little bit nervous. Because I always am with shiny new tech toys. Very, very nervous.
No work tomorrow, but I'm going to the shrink. And probably the post office to mail off some things and get stamps for cards.
bishounenjunkie - I need your address so I can send you your package! I only have the old home address where I sent... that other person stuff.
