Yesterday I drove bro back to Stony Brook. The drive wasn't too bad, so I think I can manage it for I-CON this year, especially after a few more practice trips. Met [livejournal.com profile] ozw and his suitemate for brunch. Heh. Oh, dining hall food how I do not miss thee.

[livejournal.com profile] alorarose has provided some songs for the Geek Mix and I'm still going through songs [livejournal.com profile] queenmaab gave me for the Wraith!Ford mix, so both of those will be ready soon. I still have a Weir mix that needs a cover.

I'm planning to buy the DivX compatible DVD player that's on Amazon, but have decided to apply for the Amazon.com rewards Visa card so I can get $30 off the player and earn points since I shop so much on Amazon anyway. Hopefully I get the approval soonish. Heh.

Going to see Goblet of Fire with [livejournal.com profile] queenmaab and friend tonight. Have to stop at Michael's first to get some knitting needles. Yay for coupons.

Off to go find food then going to get ready to head out.

If that's the same DVD player I bought, it's got issues. It played the stuff you burned for me just fine, but this last time around, when I burned the Hive .avi to a DVD and played it, it was very distorted. I saw in someone else's LJ that certain DVD players can't decode part of the file or something, and this torrent gave a lot of people problems.

Yeah, it's the same one you and Bree have. Thanks for the heads up. I figured it wouldn't play 100% of everything I'd burn, so that's okay. I think it would stay play a large enough percentage of my files that it would be worth it. Plus, the region hack on that device is much easier than the one I currently have. heh.

Oh, then you must share the region hack thinger, as I did not know...

Obviously I can't vouch for how well these work, but maybe, but all the info is <a href='http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks.php?dvdplayer=philips+dvp+642&hits=50&Search=Search">here</a> :)

erm. Sorry. It looks like the link got cut off and I didn't notice ^^*

Philips DV642

Also, the Hive you downloaded, do you know which encode it was? There are two floating around right now, both different sizes, and I suspect one of them is corrupt. There's TC (downloaded to a new folder with a text file) and XViD-MINT VTV (which is a larger file size).

I was just going to reply to that comment and ask. *g*

Cool! Thank you!

Erm. No, I don't. It's the 350mb one and I don't recall getting a text file with it.

The encode version is usually part of the file name: Stargate.Atlantis.S02E12.HDTV.XviD-MINT.[VTV].avi -- if you're getting the same thing, let me know if you have any problems with it playing in the DVD player. Or if you're getting the TC version (it was the first torrent that was released) if that one works.

Just trying to figure out which ones are causing problems. Heh.

I think the person I got it from must have renamed it, because it was just called sga211.avi or something.

Ah, okay. I had a look at the posts and it looks like everyone is passing around the TC version. I might download another copy myself and see how that works. Will mail you a copy if I do or can try sending to you via AIM.

(Am pretty sure the ones I sent you before were VTV, but then I renamed the files and now can't be sure)

Yeah, it looks like they're posting the TC encodes as that it the one that shows up first. If you have a problem with this week's episode playing, let me know.

Yeah, same deal with this week. Grrr.

If I give you an FTP pword, can you upload it to my domain?

Can do. Either e-mail it to amezri @ livejournal or you can find me on AIM. Actually, I can send to you via AIM if you want.

Dunno if you sent an e-mail yet, but I've added your SN to my list, and Talyn will be on, so you can Get File from AmezriTalyn. You want the ones marked XviD-MINT.
