work; sga/faculty; software botchery
Jun. 25th, 2005 09:07 pmSpent 7 hours in the shop today. The amount of unsupervised children running thorugh the store pained me. I sort of wanted them to break something so the parents would have to pay for it. Heh.
I'd brought The Jesus Mysteries to read while I was there, but the words were all too big for my brain to understand right now. There's a lot of discussion about how Jesus was a myth based on pagan myths and lots of comparison between Jesus and Dionysus. It's interesting stuff. Of course I could only take about two hours of it.
Actually did some work on my SGA/Faculty AU while I was there. Totally different approach than my first go and I think this will work better. Except I really do think I need a writing partner who's better at setting scenes and writing the McKay/Sheppard dynamic. I've got the rest of the Faculty kids down, I think. Casey & Zeke, definitely. Oh, and in my 'verse, John & Rodney are already a super-not-so-secret item. It's all hand-written and disjointed since I was just writing around scenes I could remember. Maybe I'll type it up later on and post it.
queenmaab - I hope you guys like clam chowder... because I'm, uh, making clam chowder casserole ^^*
jen_elle - You're probably on your way to Jersey now. Uhm. Give me a call and let me know what's going on exactly. Like, what time you think you'll get here? Your best bet might be to just mapquest my address - Jon will be home all day, every day. All my info (including my cell number) is in my first LJ post, which you're on the filter for.. You're welcome to stay as long as you'd like and even though I have work on Thursday & Friday, Jon will be around. Heh. He sort of knows the way around.
Meh. I bought a 3ivx license because I'm a dork and.. well, I figure I can at least pay for once piece of software and if this is it, it's only costing me $20. So, yes, I bought it and I installed it... and the audio still doesn't frelling work. *facepalm* And it's at this point I decide to check the info on the files and discover that the encode is actually DivX, and probably 6.0, which does not work on Win98. Lovely. What a fantastic waste of $20.
I so need new ram for the laptop. *pokes it*
