work; crappiness
Oct. 19th, 2004 07:48 pmDoing backroom stuff is cool. It makes the time fly. The two hours I spent in the shop just dragged by. Closing by myself was nearly a fiasco. First, a woman from NZ came and and asked who had given me my greenstone. I told her I bought it myself, even though I know it's supposed to be a gift (like tarot cards). She proceeded to tell me to sell it to someone for $0.05 and then have them give it back to me. *sigh* Maybe. After that, when I was finally closing the store, I couldn't remember what to do exactly and where all the info was supposed to go on the sheets. Then I was freaking out and wrote the figures wrong the first 4 times. Then I needed change for $5 so I could put four singles into the deposit, except the bitch at the cafe just glared at me and said she didn't have any change. Dude. WTF?! So I went over to the Parodies guy, but he couldn't give me change unless I bought something so he could open his till - that, I totally understood, so I bought a pack of lifesavers and got my change. I think I got the rest of it under control. Hopefully.
On the way home, I ran a red light because I wasn't paying attention and I couldn't stop soon enough. Thankfully, there was no one coming the other way, so instead of skidding to a halt in the middle of the road, I just kept going >_< THEN, my windshield wipers were stopping every few seconds like in the middle of the windshield. When I got home, they smelled like burning. Oh, and to top it all off, my windshield still leaks. So I have to call the auto glass place and see if I can get an appointment for Thursday morning. Argh.
At least PKW Part 2 finished downloading. And there's a new Gilmore Girls... in 10 minutes. Hrm. Maybe I won't watch it. I still want to burn some CDs to bring into work tomorrow so I don't have to listen to crappy music for 8 hours. Blech.

Date: 2004-10-20 02:35 pm (UTC)I was actually sort of reminded in reverse by the above suggestion (about selling it to someone to gift to you) of the old superstition that giving someone a knife as a gift "severs" the friendship, so that you're supposed to have them give you a token amount of money (just, like, $1, or a penny back when that was a useful amount, that kind of thing) to make it a "sale" rather than a "gift" to prevent that from happening.
