my father=scary conservative; 13 going on 30

My copy of "Outfoxed" arrived in the mail today, so I snagged the TV from my father and popped it in. He was pretty much forced to watch it because of the back thing. So the whole time he's complaining about how they're coming down on Fox and that's not right. That Fox is a Conservative news station and what's wrong with that. I tell him that it's fine that Fox is a Conservative station, but they should not say that they're "fair and balanced." He thn points out that ABC and New York Times are clearly liberal media, and why isn't that a problem? Uhm, because they don't say they're FAIR AND BALANCED?! I mean, yes, it's a problem, but Fox is propaganda machine. It's sickening. Apparently he doesn't think so. In fact, he thinks it's okay and that I am being brainwashed by the liberal media. Because, you know, he is completely knowledgable about all sides of the news.

Here are some choice quotes from the evening:

Father: [says something about how they should stop attacking Fox News] The Democrats have Michael Moore.
Me: Michael Moore is a film maker.. not everything he says is true.
Father: So?
Me: ...

Me: They're reporting the news. They shouldn't be making stuff up.
Father: Who says?

[after another verbal spar]
Father: God save your soul.
Me: Uh. I don't believe in god.

Me: You are not a Republican. A Republican is a rich, white Christian male. And you are only a male.
Father: I don't care.
Me: ...
[note: by that I meant the scary ultra conservatives that run around on Fox News, which he loves so much. Rational Republicans are okay *g*]


In other news, mom and I watched 13 Going on 30. So. Cute. I love Jen :) Even if she and Vartan did break up and now she's possibly dating Affleck. Ugh. Anyway. 13 Going on 30 = big yay! Mark Ruffalo, Andy Serkis.. big love. Right. Babbling. Will stop.

definitely a cute movie. mark ruffalo = super adorable.

my favorite part was when matty was explaining the dream house... "and there is that bum rick springfield on the couch, and there's me making sure he keeps his hands to himself..." that was adorable.

and i generally don't like "cute" movies. but that one was fun and cute.

Did they definitely break up, cause I don't believe a thing that US Weekly publishes, especially since the photo they cited as proof of Garner and Affleck was from Daredevil... :-/

Sadly, I did not pass on the link to the review of the documentary about how the "liberal media" is a myth because of the consolidation of American media into the hands of a few large and Republican-biased corporations. (Though I might have read it in that blog you linked to last week, actually.)
