Work today was a little crazy. Found out two people were leaving, including the other shelver. She had, incidentally, also called in sick this morning. So there I was, with 9 FULL carts. Uhm. I think I only put about 4 away. On the plus side, I'm now guaranteed hours because I'm filling in for the shelver and also a cashier that got the boot. The downside to this being I'll be working two shifts in one day and also closing while opening the next morning.

Uhm. But money=good. I may make I-Con yet...

Speaking of money, I uh, bought a book today. It was there being all interesting and stuff, so I had to! The Jesus Mysteries : Was the "Original Jesus" a Pagan God? There are some pretty interesting comments about this book at Amazon. If it's any good, I might pick up Jesus and the Lost Goddess : The Secret Teachings of the Original Christians

I have an interest in comparative religion, okay? Before I read these, I'm already sure it was written by two white males who are angry at the church for whatever reason. Still...

Oh! Also met [livejournal.com profile] queenmaab! ^_^ That was cool. Sorry if I was a little uhm, abrupt, but I was sort of stressing the whole "omg, what am I going to do with all these books?!" thing. We should definitely hang out sometime :)

[livejournal.com profile] wisteria_'s caps are in all ways superior to mine. I think I might try my icon again with her caps...

I've done web stuff today. Yay! Erm.. gonna go find food. I don't think anyone's cooking...

I read about this theory in The Templar Revelation and it sounds very plausible. It already reorganized some of my views on Christianity. Of course I can't really discuss it with anyone without them looking at me as if I'd uttered the worst kind of blasphemy.

I'm going to check out these books. Thanks for linking.

*hee* You can always discuss with me or anyone on my friends list. They're all discussion friendly, even the ones who are devout Christians :)

If you're really interested read Mircea Eliade's The Sacred and the Profane, anything by Joseph Campbell, and Marija Gimbutas The Language of the Goddess

YOu may also want to check out Norma Lorre Goodrich's Preistess. I'm (re)reading that now.

Be careful with these books, and I don't mean in a religious sense but in the fact that from what I read in the reviews, it might have sort flawed arguments in it. I think, rather that Jesus actually being a Pagan God, the organized religions took from the Pagan rituals and belief systems to draw Pagans to the new religion and make them feel at home.

And, I think, (and this is probably what happened), the early Christians USED to be Pagans, so all the rituals and practices they did were very Paganistic, so were carried on into the new religion.

Either way, it's an interesting field of research - let me know if it's a good book or not! :)

Oh, I know :) I'm just interested in reading other people's views about things.

Early Christians did tend to have Pagan tendencies, which is where the bread/wine/Communion part of Mass originates from, as far as I understand. The early church incorporated it as a way to give the people a familiar ritual.
