tapioca pearls/bubble tea
Jan. 25th, 2004 06:28 pmI just cooked tapioca pearls for bubble tea. They're the clear kind, but they actually taste okay and are the right texture. Mwahahaha!
And my mom bought me a package of large bubble tea straws. Rawk.
For anyone who cares, here's the best method I've found:
Note: Use 5 parts water to 1 part tapioca pearls.
1. Bring water to a boil. Add one tablespoon sugar and the tapioca pearls. Stir to dissolve sugar. Cook at a boil for 30min, stirring to keep them from sticking.
2. Turn heat to warm and leave pearls in covered pot for another 30min.
3. Drain and rinse with cold water.
4. Dissolve 1 part honey to 1 part water; make enough to cover cooked pearls in a bowl.
5. Mix pearls with honey/water mixture.
You can put them in the fridge, but they'll turn a bit hard and cloudy. So, keeping them at room temperature seems to work okay for a day or two.
We're having leftovers for dinner. My father hates leftovers. *glee* He woke me up this afternoon so I could eat some disgusting lunch he cooked. When I told him there were dumplings in the fridge, he said he didn't feel like eating them. Well, you know, I don't feel like eating some vomitous mass he cooked up.
