Oh my god, stop with the gorram wind! It's like 30F outside and the wind is still blowing at 36mph. I need to go outside and retrieve the garbage can from the middle of the street.

Hmm.. I wonder if I can phone post to certain custom filters. That would be nifty.

Things to do:
+ RP post
+ clean my room
+ dump the crap out of backpack so I can use it next week
+ convert Tru Calling 1.02 to VCD format
+ backup most of the stuff on my machine
+ burn & delete old MP3s

Oh! Can I jump on this oportunity to ask you how to convert torrents into VCD? Pretty please? *g* I tried a few programs but didn't get any positive results.

well... I mean, you can't convert a torrent to VCD, since a torrent downloads as a media file - avi, mov, etc.

To convert AVI files to VCD MPEG files, go to this site: http://www.clonead.co.uk/ and download TMPGEnc v2.511

and then this site has directions on how to use TMPGEnc to convert: http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/AVItoVCD.htm

good luck!

What I meant to do was convert my torrents (mpg files) into VCDs in order to play them on my DVD player instead of my computer. But I don't know if it's even possible or it's worth it.

In any case, thank you for the links. :)

oooh. if you've downloded them as mpg files from torrents, then all you need is burning software that will burn VCDs, like Nero. the mpg files will already be in the correct vcd format (well, 99% of the time...)

what burning software do you use?

I never got to answer this comment since you left for NZ. :) In the meantime, I’ve figured it out: my very expensive DVD player is the most useless thing I own and won’t play my Alias VCDs for no reason at all. Bro-S borrowed his friend’s DVD player (a first price with nothing but very basic functions) and the VCDS worked perfectly. So unless I buy a new DVD player, I’m doomed. Thanks for all your help, thought.

Hm. Weird. Though, some DVD players won't play burned CDs. That happened with our old one, but luckily a storm shorted it out and we had to buy a new one. So we just got a cheap one that would play burned CDs ^__^

I think you could, by posting to private and then coming online and editing the post?

That's weird: it's total gale-force winds here too.

The phone post utility allows posting to communities, but I don't think you can do filters unless you, indeed, go back afterwards and edit that option. And don't you just love the last days of packing and preparation before a trip? (I remember those well -- a pity it's been so long since I was in the regular habit of travelling.)
