The park run... meeting with Sloane. He's such a weasel. I like how he says Covenant, like "Cah-vah-nant" Heh. Sloane's really good at playing people and pushing the right buttons, that's for sure. Maybe this does have something to do with Il Dire. I read someone's reviews and they postulated that what Il Dire really did was to let Sloane have influence over people with his words - his telling. Interesting theory anyway.
How long as Vaughn been out of the hospital? He's on ice slapping pucks around... at Weiss. "Weiss on ice." Heh. This is where I attempt to work out the time table...
Okay, so Vaughn says it' been three weeks since he found out about Sydney killing Lazarey. Not three of our weeks, of course, because that would be too easy. Vaughn finds out about the video in 3.04 - then he and Syd go on that mission where Vaughn gets stabbed. 3.05 is basically the day after he finds out about the video. Add the 36 hour induced cma and throw in a day or two for him to be well enough to have visitors and a beer. So, okay, even then Vaughn has had two weeks to get out of the hospital. I still don't think that's enough time for him to be playing hockey or to have no scar.
Weiss is getting beat on really bad this episode. Eric. What did you do??
Sark is all defensive about getting a partner. Heh. Think he would protest if Sydney were his partner? XD
Sydney becomes Sloane's handler! Hah! And why? Because she's more familiar with the players (uhm, hasn't she been saying this all along?) especially with... the Francinator! So sark gets his Allison back. Aww... shirtless!Sark! Eee!
The Will flashback made me sniffle. I miss Will! I hope Bradley comes back this season. But don't tell me. I'm trying to stay spoiler free.
We find out that the Covenant did recover both Sydney and Allison. Which... I'm not sure how Sark knows that. Are we to assume that the Covenant filled him in or that Sark knew all along but was just pretending he didn't know when he laughed at Sydney. Actually... it's possible that he did know and just found it damn funny that Sydney couldn't remember. But if he did know about Sydney & Allison being recovered, should he have known that Allison was a alive? Then again, maybe he had just heard they were recovered by the Covenant, but assumed they were killed. Confused now. I do know one thing: Sark wants to find out who killed his father. For revenge maybe?
Shirtless!Sark is balanced by Shirtless!Vaughns. Michael, where's that big ugly knife wound we all assume you'd have? Anyway...you married a good looking, healthy girl there, buddy. Yay. They both know they're lying to each other, but they won't say anything because I'm sure they know it's job-related. Either way, that's a sucky situation. I love these two together, I really do. I hope that Jabrams &Co don't mess it up :-/
And though I'm loving Lauren, can we not make her backstory suck? She's US born, but grew up in London so has an accent that doesn't pan out for any nationality? Especially not for anyone raised in London. Meh. Minor gripe.
Vaughn's slightly shocked expression when Sydney appears in that outfit? It's not because she's hot. It's because she looks like Cruella Deville. And bitch, you're a super spy - you can put on your own radiation leaking camera. I know Sydney is uber-emotional, but Allison looks ike Francie because she broke the damn machine that could change Allison back, so really it is allherfault. The Black Vs. White imagery.. har har.
I always enjoy scenes where Vaughn is a goof. Too bad the whole time I thought he was mackin' on Sydney. "Hey check out the guy with no rhythm." Heh. And asking about a nose job? Oy. The whole mission was a bit of a debacle - Allison gets away with the goods because Syd & Vaughn are too busy loudly announcing where they are.
Weiss makes a good point.. sort of. Allison did live with Syd, but I don't think there was much of a chance for them to bond. I think by this point even the real Francie was starting to get irritated with Sydney's frequent disappearing acts. I do think that Allison had an attachment to Will and that she really did feel bad for killing Will. Hell, she didn't even really kill him. Maybe she couldn't do it becuase she'd spent so many months pretending to be his girlfriend.
Marshall. Love ya, but you need to check the babble. But man, what a zinger. Calling Weiss "not astute"? Ouch. I don't even think he meant it in a mean way - it was just something that he would say as an observation. Weiss is always the one who furrows his brow and asks for a Geek to English translation. From that, Marshall just concluded that Weiss.. isn't astute. XD
Sloane is just a mean, cranky old man. He sure knows how to push buttons though. He makes another dig, using Allison as fodder this time.
Why is eveyone cracking on Weiss and why are they writing him dumb? He's not. He can't be. He would know what a fecking RF signal is.
Lauren's NSC tech geek was really blase and too boring. I'd rather have myself a Marshall geek. Also.. you people are not that astute. :-P Listen, maybe they mangled the voice, but like the picture, anyone wiht half a brain or more than an hourof contact with Sydney should know that it's her! Or at least suspect it. Geez.
... why is Lauren on a mission... breaking into an office with a credit card? *sigh*
The whole meeting reeks of "set up," so I was surprised Allisonand Sark stuck around. Loved Weiss' snarky "this is the best plan ever." Sydney pushing Sloane to ask about her past.. not really caring if he gets killed or not. There really is no question - Sloane knows something. The bemused "golly gee, was it something she saw?" and Allison's rather lame "I don't know, but I'm as curious as you are." Either way, once again it's a case of Uncle Arvin leading them around by the nose. No one said it was somthing she saw - it was just a suggestion. What if it was something she heard, stole, did, or some greater role she has yet to play?
Wait. I got it. What if Sydney's taken after her mother and is "The Man." Maybe she knew she was reprogrammed or discovered it somehow and developed some kind of plan to get herself recovered - or at least not killed. Ah.. who am I kidding..
Yay. Dixon finally shows some kind of emotion - "I want that bitch dead." Except.. yeah, Allison pulled the trigger, but Sloane created her and ordered her to do it. So really, it's all Sloane's doing and here Dixon is working with that bastard. Dixon should hate him, shoudn't he? I think maybe he still feels guilty about Emily so has called it even with Sloane, but not with his assassin.
Ah yes... more snarky, one-liner Marshall. The look on Vaughn's face was very nearly priceless - "I've got the looks and you've got the brains?!" And Marshall's drum kit proposal? so geeky.. so very, very Marshall. And Kevin's in a band, right? Who knew... That was a great smile he gave Marshall, sort of "aww... poor geek."
*cough* Could the tracker maybe not beep so as to not alert everyone in the area that you're near? And maybe you guys could talk louder so Allison can hear you.
Francie flashback.. was odd. I didn't really care and I kept noticing the obvious blue screen job. But Rambaldi reference - yay! We get another chick fight in which Allison gets shot again, but this time is well enough to be moved to the hospital. Speaking.. civilian ambulance? Sydney, you've got to have more sense than that. Armed guard nothing. There should have been an armed guard and like four black cars with heavily armed agents.
At the end we learn that the medication Allison was given has pretty much made her invincible or has superhealing or something. If Syd was also taken by the Covenant, would she have been given the medication and would she also be superhealing? Hey, that could explain some things. Or not. I know syd wasn't near death, but I don't know if the Covenant would be that discriminatory - they might have just given it to her to heal her up faster so they would brainwash her and use her. We shall see...
Sloane: I miss LA. I miss Emily. I miss the friendship with your father. I miss your confidence and trust. Perhaps I could get it back someday?
Sydney: You will never have my confidence and trust or my father's friendship and respect. Ever.
"You understand the reason your brother didn't like talking to you is because you say stupid things, right?" - Vaughn to Weiss
"This is why people from the CIA shouldn't marry people from the NSC. Don't poop where you sleep." - Weiss to Vaughn
"Bristow should have to pay for these scars." - Sark
"So that camera Marshall gave us is a miniaturized x-ray camera. How much you wanna bet this thing's leaking radiation?" - Vaughn
Vaughn: What do you think? Should I get my nose done?
Sydney: Maybe a little tapering.
Vaughn: Get the bump removed?
Weiss: Uh, Flinkman, you know what would be great? English.
Marshall: Oh, I forgot, you're not that astute.
Sydney: It was an assignment, not an agreement - the way a janitor doesn't agree to clean a toilet. But as your handler, you'll do what I say when I say. I select you asignments, I design your missions. I control you - not the other way around.
Sloane: Is that what you used to let Vaughn do, control you?
Slaone: I was very patriotic once.
Sydney: No one's asking.
"Let's face it - you've got the looks, I've got the brains." - Marshall to Vaughn
Vaughn: I think she's gonna say yes.
Matshall: Really? 'Cause of the rock jam song?
Vaughn: Maybe inspite of the rock jam song.
"So yeah, you almost killed me, but then you also saved my life." - Allison

Sydney's Fault?
Date: 2003-11-08 04:58 pm (UTC)In the end, Syd's emotional state is unjustified because she was doing her job. Sloane just happened to have a candidate choose to infiltrate Syd's life through her best friend. I read a review that said that while Allison went through with the physical murder of Francie, it was really Sloane that held the proverbial knife. It's all Sloane's fault for getting Sydney in such a mess.
Maybe that explains the recap focusing so much on Syd's "interrogation" of Sloane in "The Two" on his desk in Omnifan.

Isn't it always? LOL
