Troy Teaser trailer @ Yahoo!Movies. Guh. I love sweeping epic historical films. Cannot wait for this one to come out. Orlando Bloom aside, I've been jonesin' for a good film about Ancient Greece. Really. Okay, the Orlando Factor doesn't hurt.

Will have seperate entries for my Alias reviews since they're both pretty long. Probably also one for Tarzan & Angel. 'Cause the fun. Ahahaha.. ha.. heh. But it's late, so will likely do that tomorrow.

I need to make more icons. Maybe something with those cool iPod commercials.

In need of academic advisement? Just remember: WWAD? XD

Working on [livejournal.com profile] alorarose's layout. heh. it's gonna be cool *G*

omg!

Uhm. This doesn't look like a good film about Ancient Greece. It looks like some Hollywood schmuck raping a perfectly good Greek Legend beyond recognition. I doubt Achilles will even have been dipped in any mythical stream to make him invincible. Helen is a scrag. That first scene with the boats? Dear God! There weren't that many people in the entire WORLD let alone on one side of a good fight. There were only ten thousand people at most in one fight. In those boats, there are a hundred at most per boat. That means there would have been a hundred boats in that shot at most. At most. There looked like there were five hundred or more! Maybe it's because I'm such a bitch to history, and that I've read so much about Ancient Greece and it's dear to me, but this movie really doesn't look any good to me at all. I just get the feeling that these guys are pillaging old tales to make a few bucks. The worst thing is that young kids these days might think that this is really what it was all about, when in actual fact the story of Troy, and the Iliad, were far more magical and terrifying than just love affairs and battles. There were Gods, monsters, beautiful creatures, mystical beings. That's what I liked about these stories.

Oh, and Achilles was so not the greatest warrior. He was only reknowned for the folly of his death. He was a metaphor. A big walking metaphor.

Don't read the deleted comment. It might have a spoiler in it and I just realised you might not want to know. Though I assumed that you'd already read the Iliad or knew about Paris' fate? I don't know.

Yep, read the Illiad - yay Honors English. Heh. Know what happens and I'm not one of those silly people who can't see my favorite actor die. And even if it's not historically/mythologically accurate, I still like big stupid sweeping Hollywood films. Anyway, I know the difference.

When I said "good film about Ancient Greece" maybe I should have said "big ass film set in Ancient Greece with dudes in armor and chicks in tiny dresses" LOL

Aaaaaaaah now I understand. I'm a history snob. You can smack me now.

Well. I'd watch it just to see Brad Pitt get beaten up. It's half the fun of Fight Club. Sadly, Eric Bana's character will not be killed in this film. *le sigh*.

Okay, had to snork at the WWAD poster. Though my preference is still for the "Brutal writing workshop?" poster that had a shot of Merry and Pippin tag-teaming on that orc they had down at the end of FotR...
