html, layout, dwl, mp3 legal stuff
Oct. 7th, 2003 10:52 pmHoly crap. I found the solution to the weird width="100%"-but-doesn't-stretch-solved-by-refreshing problem I have always had with tables! And it's a stupid style class line.
ronniefairy! I finished your layout. Sort of. Check your e-mail.
I need the "Down With Love" DVD! It's got 6 minutes of bloopers! 6! And they're screencapped here. So amusing.

fyrdrakken. Very interesting article by Orson Scott Card about how MP3s Are Not the Devil.
In other news, THE BRISTOW has stopped talking to me. But ihaven't been blocked, so that's at least something. Okay, how sad is it that I'm sad that a person pretending to be a fictional character is not IMing me?
Gonna go snag a peach and watch TV. Or snag a peach and read fic. I haven't decided yet.

Since every penny I earn depends on copyright protection, I'm all in favor of reasonable laws to do the job.
But there's something kind of sad about the recording industry's indecent passion to punish the "criminals" who are violating their rights.

So it's pretty hilarious to hear record company executives and movie studio executives get all righteous about copyright. They've been manipulating copyright laws for years, and all the manipulations were designed to steal everything they could from the actual creators of the work.
Do you think these companies care about the money that the actual creators of the work are being deprived of when people copy CDs and DVDs?

I've read that article before, but it brings up some interesting points - most of which I agree with. I'm probally in one of the worst imcome brackets possible (Actor/Student... income, what's that?). I can't really afford to go out and buy CD's, so I download MP3's or get copies off friends - usually of bands/musicians that have been recommended by friends and that I have never heard of, let alone heard their music. Partly because of my icome I'm not going to go out and buy a CD by somebody I've never heard of before, but If I have the chance to listen to their music - then there is the possibility that I will go and buy their CD - legally. It's by getting copies of CDs and Downloading MP3s that I have been fotunate enough to discover poeple like Bernie Hayes (thanks
The other thing I like about the article is that it pointed out that you are legally entitled to own a back-up copy of every CD/DVD/PC Game/Programme that you have purchased - most people will try and tell you that's illegal - it's not! Hmmm... I think I'll stop there before I start writing a big long rant...
