SPOILERS FOR X-MEN 2

Yes, this movie rocked. Yes, I'm going to see it again, more than twice, likely. Yes, the fight scenes were fabulous. What didn't I like? The pacing. Don't get me wrong, I loved the exposition bits as much as the rest of it, but it was cut kinda weird. There was constant start/stop and I wished it was more gradual. That said....

Nightcrawler! My boy! ^_^ Oh, how I love my fuzzy scarified elf. He was still still the same character that I always loved, but less of a smarmy punk. LOVED the opening scene at the White House. I wasn't sure how the bamf effects would look, but it was wicked! The smoke was perfect. Everything was.. *gah* perfect! Except maybe for the lack of smell associated with it. The running bit with his name was cute, but wore a bit thin.

Rogue. Rogue... I dunno what to say about her. Just.. well, I hope Bobby makes her happy. Also, she looks damn hot in that uniform. I was wondering when that was going to be revealed. Oh yes, Magneto's taunt on the jet? Sort of wanted her to actually to something. Bring it, bitch! Rogue should not be allowed to fly the jet, but good for her for trying because she saved their asses.

I still have no love for Cyke, but he was definitely better this time. And how hot was that outfit? At least he sort of stood up to Deathstrike.

Storm's part is much improved. Her accent was more even (dialog coach?) and the hair was less.. ratty. Her powers also seem more focused. I'm expecting some future Storm/Nightcrawler action.

Wolverine. Hell yeah. Kicking ass and taking names as always, except this time the body count was considerably higher. It's interesting to note that Wolverine is one of the few characters they show actively killing people with no qualms. He rescue at the mansion was one of the best action sequences in the movie. I can't remember if Xavier and Wolverine knew anything about Logan's past in the comic (I'm a bit out the loop), but it was an interesting twist. Xavier's motives are not as pure as he would have us believe. Oh yeah, shouldn't he have scented Mystique in the tent? 'Cause I'm sure she doesn't smell like Jean who, you know, he was kissing two minutes ago. More of his past was revealed and even though he doesn't know the whole truth, he knows enough that he's happy with who he is now and what he does.

Bobby. Eh. Don't have much to say, except kudos to him for sticking by Rogue and going head-to-head with Wolverine and being totally cool (har har) about it. Cooling Logan's Coke in the kitchen was perfect - except in the novel Logan offered Bobby one as well. Meh, moot point.

John is a grease ball and I'm glad he's with the Brotherhood. That's where he belongs. Pyro. Pfft. He is so Connor, what with the greasiness and the loyalty and violence issues.

You know Jean Grey's not my favorite character. Never has been. She was a whiny bitch in the comics, and aside from her Phoenix period, I'm not sure what she did besides cry and faint a lot. Except... X2 made me like Jean. Just a little. I was really happy with her turning down Wolverine and being loyal to Scott. I like her new, cute hairdo. I like that she will do the right thing without consulting with the others because there's no time. And I'm really psyched for X3 because they're going to have to use the Phoenix storyline. Phoenix rocked.

Mystique. Love her. Rebecca must've loved that day on the set where she didn't have to get in the blue makeup. The voice was a bit strange, but maybe I was just hearing too much of it. I'm still waiting for the Mystique/Nightcrawler/Rogue connections, because that is just so waiting to be revealed. The fight scenes rocked.

Magneto has so much more power than anyone knows. That scene where he pulled the iron out of the guard was fantastic. Pure genius. Wicked effects. Mags is back and craftier than ever. I loved how he saved the X-Men's ass. Never let it be said that Magneto is anyone's bitch.

I'm not sure if Jason Stryker was supposed to be a preexisting character or a new one. Either way, he was way creepy.

Deathstrike kicked Wolverine's ass! Mwahahahaha! Until, you know, he pumped her full of adamantium and she thunked to the bottom of the tank. I was hoping for more that a few scenes with her standing around and getting drugged and one fight scene. Although Wolverin's "No shit" reaction to her claws was priceless. It was sad when she was dying and you saw her eyes return to normal. She could have been one of the team. Aww.

Actions scenes were awesome. The Metropolitan museum. The mansion invasion. The Alkali base fights. Oh so many great scenes! Half of them involving Nightcrawler. Rogue gets sucked out of the jet and Kurt 'ports out and saves her.

The Kitty Pryde thing is still pissing me off. Why did they replace Sumela Kay if they weren't even giving the other girl lines? Pfft. I liked her so much better. Katie Stuart, though proven on Stargate SG-1, is still not right for the role.

Colossus, Siryn, Jubilee, Remy, and Hank as cameos and mentions. James Bamford is listed as Remy LeBeau in the credits, but I don't recall seeing him. I'm gonna have to look closer tomorrow.

X2 certainly didn't fuel my W/R shipper fires, but I think there will be more Kurt love all around.

I'm sure I'll have more stuff to say tomorrow. I'm suffering from X2 overload. *dies*

Professor X: Logan, my tolerance of you smoking within the mansion notwithstanding; continue smoking that in here, and you will spend the rest of your life believing you are a six-year-old girl.
Wolverine: You would do that?
Professor X: I would have Jean braid your hair.

I loved that scene. Go him for not being an ass to Logan. :o)

My thoughts exactly!

I should not read spoliers, but I can't help myself. I always loved the X-Men cartoons and I loved the first movie (Hugh Jackman, anybody?)

Oh I love you!

maybe it's just me.. but I don't think any of that was spoiler-ish. I guess I'm one of those people who can know the whole f*cking plot, scene by scene.. but can still watch a movie and be completely surprised *shrugs* that made sense to me

*sighs* if I make some money tomorrow, I might be able to go see it *crosses fingers*

I'm glad you had fun!! And many kisses for all the details :D

btw: I loved the Phoenix storyline, too. And as for Logan's past, in the comics.. they found out bits and pieces over the years, I think. It's been a long time since I've gotten a chance to read any of those comics.

have.to.see.again. ^_^

- theres a physical remy cameo? where?????? I only caught the computer one...must see remy! ^_^ Ive heard rumors of an Angel cameo somewhere too.

- the actor that played pyro shouldve played Anakin in the ST movies. total agreement with the greaseball and connor-ness.

- Nightcrawler kicked ass. I loved his scars, and how his rosary's cross was all bent and broken. and the bamf! ^_^

- the leeching of the iron from the guards blood ROCKED. reminded me of how, in one of hte comics, Mag does that to wolverine, only he takes out the adamantium and nearly kills him.

- same with the school invasion, reminded me of another bit from the comics; the 'phalanx' story where the school gets invaded from the inside. was actually bouncing in my seat.

- noticed the lack of kitty. wtf? She's the girl that 'drops' thru her bed, right? Watching it, I was all 'thats kitty's ability, but thats not kitty...'

- Jason Stryker rings a bell from the comics. Or his powers does....cant remember. >_<

- the book that magneto was reading in prison. *giggle*

- the prof is fucking scary.....never thought I would think that of him....but damn.

- Remy cameo was cut. Hopeing it'll make it to the DVD...

- Yes.. def not happy with the casting, but at least it was okay because they made Pyro a sleazebag, so.. yeah

- Nightcrawler is my boy! ^_^ I so want a Bamf doll :D

- I missed the storyline where Wolvie got his adamantium removed. But remember that afterwards he still had boneclaws

- Eee! Phalanx! *hee* I remember that

- Yep, that was Kitty. As you recall I was irked at recasting because that girl so did not look like Kitty

- Jason Stryker was familiar too, but I couldn't find him anywhere

The phalanx story and wolvie only having bone claws was right before I stopped reading the comics....ahhh....the good ol'days.... ^_^ He was damn scary with the bone claws. O_O

That was not Kitty. Kitty's older (or at least looks it), and has brown hair. (I know Im preaching to the choir here though...)

Went checking around...I think John Stryker is 'Mastermind' (or at least his powers are lifted from Mastermind) from the comics.

There's nightcrawler dolls? Hopefully plushies? *want* ^_^

My profanity runneth over -- I was composing this reply and apparently clicked on a wrongsome button and everything cleared itself, so I had to start afresh. Grrr!

Oh yes, Magneto's taunt on the jet? Sort of wanted her to actually to something. Bring it, bitch!

[livejournal.com profile] khakigrrl and I are debating whether Mags and Mystique even realized that they caused that streak or not. Magneto doesn't seem to have any reason to really hold a grudge, and could be they just assumed it was a case of a teenager experimenting with her hairdo and he wanted to say something nice to her. (Though admittedly the way they were giggling to each other makes one want to believe they were being nasty, it could just have been a pair of lovers playing catch-up.)

I'm still waiting for the Mystique/Nightcrawler/Rogue connections, because that is just so waiting to be revealed.

I don't think there's any room for Mystique/Rogue connections in movieverse, since Rogue went from her parents' house to the road to the X-Mansion without being picked up by a foster mother in the meantime. But the Mystique/Nightcrawler thing could be a cut scene, since Alan Cummings said he found out Mystique was Nightcrawler's mother when he was in mid-script.

Rogue gets sucked out of the jet and Kurt 'ports out and saves her.

I thought that scene was pretty silly. Pointless danger, since the whole crew was already in jeopardy without having someone sucked out of the plane, and no need to show off Kurt's powers again -- unless the idea was to point out that Kurt's really a very nice guy.

The Kitty Pryde thing is still pissing me off. Why did they replace Sumela Kay if they weren't even giving the other girl lines? Pfft.

I'm guessing Sumela Kay either was busy or else didn't want to bother doing it for the single scene they had for her.

James Bamford is listed as Remy LeBeau in the credits, but I don't recall seeing him. I'm gonna have to look closer tomorrow.

His scene was cut. I don't know why they left him in the credits unless it was to be polite or because his scene will show up on the DVD later.

Hmm.. that's a good point. Of course, I've always been under the impression that Magneto Knows All, so to me it's plausable that they knew. Plus, the tone of his voice was almost mocking. *shrug*

Unless those were her foster parents. *eg* Definitely hoping for some Mystique/Nightcrawler revelations in form of cut scenes.

Yeah.. but still.. the new girl is so not Kitty. When I saw Sumela Kay, I knew she was Kitty before she ran through the wall. Now this girl, I only know she's Kitty because she phased through the bed. *sigh*
