Yeah, I support terrorism.
Jan. 15th, 2003 11:15 pmWell, according to the Detroit Project anyway.
I like SUVs. I like Jeeps and 4x4s. I live in snow country and pretty much need that kind of vehicle. They run on gas, purchased from countries that support terrorism.
If the government would get off their ass and start looking into alternative energy like turning the barren plains of the US into very productive wind farms. Or, hey, how about hydrogen power? It's clean and the by-product is pure water. We already have the technology - it just has to be developed for vehicle usage.
Quit fingerpointing and do something productive! Hey, hey, hey! War on Iraq doesn't count!
Also, saw Michael Moore on Conan. He said this thing about how while we were searching for nuclear weapons in Iraq suddenly North Korea goes "We have weapons! Look at us, we have weapons right here!" and the US suddenly goes, "Shut the f-- up! Ah, crap, who let them into the Axis of Power?!" And basically the American government is just using the war to earn money and/or draw attention away from the fact that we're in a deficit. Again.
Hm.

Date: 2003-01-17 03:41 am (UTC)Your point about living where you pretty much need that kind of vehicle is key. People like my mother, sister and father -- who don't do off-road driving, don't need lots of cargo and/or passenger room, and just plain don't need an SUV are being ridiculous by buying them. (Dad was doing perfectly well with a truck before trading it in -- and it was just the kind of vehicle that was appropriate to the region and to his occasional hauling needs.)

Better yet, if the government would get out of the oil companies' pockets and make the fuel mileage requirements for cars manufactured and/or sold in this country more fuel efficient rather than less, and/or encourage electrical cars/alternate fuel sources/etc. -- but the oil companies have invested far too much in our current crop of politicians for them to do that...

Exactly.
