Sheryl Crow and Michelle Branch @ the Pepsi. So feckin' cool.
Joanne and I got there around 7:00pm, which everyone said was a little early, since concerts never start on time. Um.. well, Michelle was already singing "Here With Me" while we were trying to find out floor seats. We were definitely no more than 10 rows from the stage, which was a mixed blessing. All through the concert this crazy, middle-aged, piss-drunk white woman was dancing like she was an 80's music video porn queen. She and her friends were utterly obnoxious - and stank like beer. While Michelle was there, it was sort of tolerable - they were seated so I could still get good shots. As soon as Michelle started "All You Wanted," though, these stupid fat cows two rows in front of us decided to stand up and act like idiots. Listen, if that's the only song of hers you know, sit the fuck down. Other songs Michelle sung, in no particular order: "Everywhere," "Something to Sleep To," "You Get Me," "If Only She Knew," "Sweet Misery," "I'll Always Be Right There," and "Goodbye to You." Michelle told a cute story about how a girl named Sarah she met at the in store had requested the song, "So, Sarah, 'Goodbye to You.' No! Not, goodbye to you! I mean, this is 'Goodbye to You,' for you, Sarah." Aww, she was so cute! Michelle is awesome live, and anyone who has the chance should go see her!
And.. speaking of.. why the hell didn't I know about the in store? ::frowns:: I would totally have been there! It was probably at Borders. ::kicks self:: I really wish I checked her site more often. Michelle said she's currently working on a new album and played a new song.. which I can't remember the name of... but it sounded really good ^_^*
Once Sheryl came out, all hell broke loose. The baby-boomers were crawling out of the woodwork, all drug and high, standing and "dancing." It was disturbing. The crazy buggers behind us spilled beer on my back and kept hitting me and Joanne in the head with their drunken flailing, which was I guess what they considered dancing. The crazy blond bitch in front of us had gotten more beer during intermision and was now unstoppable. Her friend, on the other hand, had puked and was now passed out. Security eventually came by to kick them out. Heh. Of course, she was too drunk to give a damn and kept trying to get her wasted friend up to hooker-dance with her. During this druken-puke-y fiasco, Sheryl played a new song called "Lucky Kid" which was lyrically very appropriate. "Wasted!"
I dodn't know a lot of the songs by Sheryl, only her really old ones which i had mostly forgotten by now :-P But she's really good live - great with the audiance. She used "Albany" in a few of her lyrics and then on the video display in the last song. After her normal set, she came back out to play a song on the piano and a Led Zepplin cover while dancing on top of said piano. It was tre cool. I hope my pictures came out okay.
After the concert, Joanne and I skipped around to the side parking lot. Security came around a little later to shoo us out. "Sheryl already left," they lied rather unconvincingly. Eventually, one of the security guys tipped us off that they usually leave from the back lot (Beaver St. for anyone from the area). We went around the way in time to see Sheryl's drummer (Jim?) sign a few things. Had a followed the group more, I'd have gone down, but it seemed kinda cheap to get something signed for the sake of getting it signed. The keyboardist ("Mikey") came out a few minutes later, but didn't stay to sign anything. My mother was on her way, so we didn't stay any longer, but I doubt that Sheryl would have really came over and interacted. It seemed like they were pulling a "not bitch" sitch by throwing the drummer out to the fans. That's just me though :-D
All and all, a very cool first concert experience. Will have to get my pictures printed soon so I can get that travel site up :-D
Finally watched the summer finale of Farscape: "Unrealized Reality." Very confusing, but very cool. ::kicks Sci-Fi:: I'm sending out crackers on Monday. I can't blieve this show will be kaput after the last 11 episodes ;_; And Witchblade has gotten the axe too. WTF? All my show are getting the chop! This is probably Buffy's last season and Angel is slowly getting lost in the shuffle. Hopefully Joss Whedon's Firefly will be a suitable substitute for my weekly TV crack...
Crackers DO Matter!
