Evil!Willow is scary and not nearly as fun as Vamp!Willow. Just an observation. *shrug* "Six years as a sideman and now I get to be the slayer." Hellz. Yeah. Did love her mocking both Dawn and Buffy. Mostly the Dawn mocking. Oh come on, you've all been thinking the same thing.
Buffy. Um.. well, I actually liked her. Which is rare. Um, that's it. Oh, it was nice that she got shook out of her season-long daze. The non-stop laughing between her and Giles was a nice moment.
Anya was great. She was all demony, but didn't turn tail and run (not that she would really have anywhere to go...) like she did during "Graduation Day." I liked that she stayed to help even when her own life (er... excepting the fact that vengeance demons can't be killed) to protect Buffy, stop Willow, and even help Jonathan & Warren. She was even rather nice about it.
Never knew Dawn watched training sessions. Also didn't know that you could pick up those kind of skills just watching. If that's the case, I should be pretty good at random martial arts moves. Heh. But seriously, it was good to see the Slayer's sister competently protecting herself.
Wheee! Giles comes back to kick some ass! Well.. with the combined powers of a whole coven, but hey, what was he gonna use, a flaming baseball bat? (Oh wait, he used that to beat the flaming vampire...) Those were some cool tricks. Too bad they didn't work. I really thought Giles was going to die. That was not cool. Oh, yeah, Giles also came back to make fun of Buffy for sleeping with Spike.
Always knew that Jonathan had a conscience, but a spine? Wow. Of course, he was only really standing up to Andrew, so that probably doesn't count for too much. Still, the fact that he wanted to stick it out at all was amazing. Wasn't surprised that the two geeks ran out when Buffy & Dawn fell down the pit and Xander got knocked out, though. Andrew really is gay. *snicker*
Xander got to be the hero! Yay, Xander! Can't remember the last time he saved the gang except for "Zeppo." Hell, I can't remember the last time Xander did anything heroic. Go, Xander, go! His speech at the end to Willow was so touching that I was near tears. Not really an easy trick for a show to pull.
Things that bothered me: Spike getting a soul. Where did Clem go? Spike getting a soul. The Satanic temple. Wiccans have no Satan, damn it. Spike getting a soul.
Did I mention the Spike getting a soul thing? Because that was just.. stupid. The whole trial was shades of Angel and the demon in the cave had a very similar silhouette to one Skippy. This is just.. argh! Spike is supposed to be a vampire with feelings. Not Angel Lite. If he starts brooding and wearing velvet, I'm going to be very pissed off. What were they thinking?!
Jen pointed out that Spike was asking to get the chip removed. Well, yes. But the PTB are tricky like that. If you ever get the chance to ask for something, word it exactly. Spike's "Make me the way I was, so I can give Buffy what she deserves," leaves all sorts of room for the comedy styling of the universe. Which is what happened. I predict that next season Spike writes lots of bad poetry and turns into a poofy little wanker. Had William the Bloody been a ruthless murderer when he was human, I would say that a soul wouldn't affect him much, but William-according-to-Joss is a love-lorn loser. Bah.
I think I am gonna go watch "Restless" and see what random connections I can make...
