I woke up around 7am this morning. Why? Because my bed was shaking. The thought that it was an earthquake did flash very briefly in my mind -- but an earthquake on that scale in NY? No way! So, in my sleepy state, I rationalized that it was the truck outside. Uh, yeah, sure. The shaking didn't seem to want to stop anytime soon, so I kinda rolled out of bed onto the floor and went to have a look at my humidifier. The water inside was rippling. Ugh. Definitely the building shaking - or the floor at least. When I got back in bed about 20 seconds later, it was over. Found out later when my mom came up that it was a 5.1 and originated in Canada. Shockwave could be felt in Baltimore, or so I was told.
Earthquakes are scary and I do not like them. That one in Taiwan that shook the whole freakin' building was plenty scary, thank you.
Story here.
