ATTN: Joe Flanigan & Cupid fans
Sep. 23rd, 2005 03:37 pmI have found a source for high-definition DVD quality episodes of Cupid. They're (supposedly) professionally burned on to 8 DVDs with menus, chapter selection, and extras. They come in 2 boxes with a pretty professional looking cover if the scan it to be believed. He says he can also offer commentary tracks.
Here's the catch: There are unremoveable Spanish subtitles because it was a Spanish-speaking country that broadcasted the episodes in high-def. The guy is asking $60, but said he could go down to $40. However, he is willing to go down further in price if more than 10 people are interested in buying this set - how much further depends on the number of people looking to buy - basically he wants to recoup the cost of his time editing and compiling.
I've seen a clip from this on the cupidfans group and yes, it is high quality. The clip didn't have subtitles, so I'm not sure how much of the screen it takes up, but I can't imagine much more than any other subtitles do.
A) What do you think about this deal? Shady or worthwhile?
B) If you are seriously interested in buying a set, comment here.
I want to see if I can gather a large enough group of people to say to this guy, "hey, look, 30 people want to buy it. How about we lower the cost to... $20/set?" -- which, btw, I think is a much more reasonable cost for something unofficial and fan-produced no matter how much time you've spent on it.
Link this anywhere you think there might be interest.
Edit: Thanks everyone for commenting! I'm still talking to the guy to see what can be worked out price-wise and how he will accept payments. I haven't replied to anyone who just said "I'm in!" but you are definitely on the count and I'll reply when I have a solid answer from him.
Edit 10/8/05: If anyone is still keeping an eye on this, I'm still waiting for a reply from the guy about what sort of extras and such are on the set and what the final price will be. Currently, I've got 20 of you saying you'd buy a set in the $20-30 range, so we'll see.
