So.. Albany, NY has made national news today. Whoopie. *rollseyes* Some bull about a sting operation that's been going on for over a year and two mosque leaders were arrested this afternoon for laundering money and attempting to buy a SAM. Hrm.

This, added to the increased alter level in the city, has caused several people in my mother's office to refuse business trips down to the city.

Look, people. You're going to have to die sometime. It's really not good to be afraid of everything because the government says this or that might happen. Just go about your business - that's a way to defeat terrorism, too. If you're all huddled in your house afraid to go outside, you're letting them win.

And for those people who suspect the color-coded terror alert system is a political tool, check this out. It's a fairly interesting theory/timeline: Bush gets negative comments, terror alert level is raised, people go crazy.

There's also this chart illustrating Bush approval ratings vs. Terror Alerts. Lookit all those terror warnings at the end there....

anyone interested in the above two links, I've created a [livejournal.com profile] juliusblog feed.

Just watched Seth Green and Matthew Lillard on the Graham Norton Effect. Seth always makes me smile. Uh, and it could be the loneliness talking, but Matthew was not annoying and seemed strangely attractive. A little. But he was certainly a lot more intelligent than I gave him credit for. Wonder if those two talked about their experience working with The Gellar...

I need to download this episode of TGNE, as well as Monday's Daily Show. Jon Stweart sticking it to that uppity Republican? Best. Moment. Ever. Advice to political guests on Jon's show: You better know what you're talking about, because he sure as hell does.

The Sky Captain site is running a theme design contest. I haven't had a proper look, but basically they give you a bunch of images and you design a new flash site theme. Entries are due August 16. You can win an AMD-Based Alienware Aurora Desktop. Sweet. (snagged from [livejournal.com profile] buhfly)

ps - the [livejournal.com profile] juliusblog just vomitted itself all over my friends page. stupid new feed.

[livejournal.com profile] tylergrrls posted the quote, and [livejournal.com profile] theetherealdawn linked the article: "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we," Bush said on Thursday. Good going, man.
