So, I dunno where I've been all day, but obviously not in front of the computer, for once. The day started off pretty good. Got my "Trainspotting" Special Edition DVD in the mail this morning. Wheee! Then went up to the Union to pick up something that came in yesterday. It was, indeed, my shiney USB keychain drive. Used it transfer some files this afternoon. It works soooo nice! Highly recommended. I got a 128mb Lexar JumpDrive. It's super-swank :-D

The Graphic Design Prof that I'm a TA for text messaged me this morning to let me know that he wouldn't be teaching class today. I was supposed to direct them to the next project and tell them that the examples were up there. Had a brief "Willow teaching computer class" spaz out, but then shrugged it off. By the time class rolled around, the secretary had already posted a sign saying class was cancelled. Anyone left in the lab was from the previous class, so I made the announcement to them. Whoopie.

Finally finished one of the panoramic images for Digital Photo. There are some days that I reallyy despise that class, but today wasn't one of them. My landscape pics come out better than my other stuff, so I was able to stitch the images together pretty easily. Will probably work on the other two tomorrow.

Finally messed with layers and a webpage (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] hardheart! ^_^) It's kind of interesting... maybe there's hope for me learning XHTML afterall. Check out the results: Alias Random Recon

And for fun and games, [livejournal.com profile] fyrdrakken has scrounged up The Gulf War Drinking Game. Very amusing.

Who's got the New York Times from Wednesday, March 19th? VotetoImpeach.org posted an ad. Am interested to know if it was really there as I've heard rumblings that Votetoimpeach is gov't organized.

The current growing trend in icon making: Wage Peace. Make Love Not War. Make Smut Not War. Some nice ones can be found here.

Tonight's links:
+ National guardman changed his name to a toy (meet Optimus Prime, kiddies)
+ Mass arrests at US peace demo
+ South Carolina House Rep wants Dixie Chicks to perform for troops
+ AlterNet.org - alternative news source
+ Squoosh a Terrorist (via [livejournal.com profile] iambliss)
+ US Exaggerates Relative Size of Iraq Alliance (via [livejournal.com profile] khaosworks)
+ A time for war, a time for peace, by Wil Wheaton

And after that lengthy post that took... 2 hours to write, I think it's time for bed. Have meetings and such tomorrow.

I just had a very random, selfish, don't-fuck-with-my-obessions thought. If there's war coverage on Sunday during Alias, someone in programming will have to die.
amezri: (whatever)
I'm glad the news is all, "look! We're bombing at Iraq! They're odd and we don't know why they didn't just surrender." Pfft. And discussing how they could have spent their money on food and healthcare instead of monuments to Saddam or Saddam's cars. This is just dumb. Do you think these people had a choice? I mean, our government does the same thing, though more covertly. Does the White House really need a $3,000 toilet? Pot. Kettle. Work it out. At least dictators don't pretend to be nice people.

Proto Nuke: I don't know about you, but I'm shocked and awed.
Proto Nuke: Actually, if I was fucking in Iraq, I think I would be.
Proto Nuke: But that doesn't make the operatio name any not lamer
Scifi 1701D: Uh huh.
Scifi 1701D: Shocked, perhaps, but not so much the awe.
Proto Nuke: Are you watching these buildings and shit on fire?
Proto Nuke: That's pretty.... awful

Shocked and appalled, is more like it.

according to the dictionary:
awe
1. A mixed emotion of reverence, respect, dread, and wonder inspired by authority, genius, great beauty, sublimity, or might: We felt awe when contemplating the works of Bach. The observers were in awe of the destructive power of the new weapon.
2. Archaic. a) The power to inspire dread. b) Dread.

Which, okay, yes, the dread, but I had always been under the impression that "awe" is a more positive word. As in, "we are in awe of God's power" blah blah. I dunno.

Could someone else name these strikes, please? Like, "Operation: Iraqi Oil" and "Operation: Bomb Baghdad Back to the Stone Age" Yeah.

Evanescence // Hello

Playground schoolbell rings, again
Rainclouds come to play, again
Has no one told you she's not breathing ?
Hello, I'm your mind, giving you someone to talk to...Hello...
If I smile and don't believe
Soon I know I'll wake from this dream
Don't try to fix me
I'm not broken
Hello, I'm the lie living for you so you can hide...
*Don't cry...*
Suddenly I know I'm not sleeping
Hello, I'm still here, all that's left
Of yesterday...

A correction: Do you like reading about war and anti-war things in my journal? is bad wording. What I mean to say is, "do you like the fact that I post anti-war things in my journal?" or something.. I dunno. Whatever.

[Poll #115383]
amezri: (damsel in distress)
Um, took a 3 hour nap. >_< Didn't really mean to but I think I'm getting sick again. Feeling very very crappy.

Found MP3s of the rare and possibly out of print Evanescence EP "Origin," which has been downloading all afternoon. Woohoo!

Hair Color Genetics for Tolkien's Elves :: I thought this was pretty funny, if only because I was always really bad with that genome chart thingy. After reading through it, I'm still not sure what the answer is o.O ::is baffled yet amused::

The results from the poll were very interesting, especially the answers about the cheese. As such, I've decided to put things behind a cut tag. Please continue to vote as I'm interested in know what you all think.

war things )

Going to get a snack and finish that RP post. Then possibly sleep. Sleep is good...
