Yeah. Shush. Anyway. [livejournal.com profile] arysani posted some quotes from this already, but G4 interviewed Robert Pattinson and his take on Edward is just... it makes me smirk.

Based off his reading of the Midnight Sun manuscript:

[Edward] sees himself as the biggest moron and just disgusting and selfish and everything... That's essentially how I saw him anyway. He's a guy who's just incredibly frustrated and finds this one thing which is his and he can't keep it safe and that's almost impossible for him to handle. He's not that great a guy at all, I mean, it's just how [Bella] sees him. That's how I'm interpreting it anyway because it's just impossible to play a perfect guy.

On "vampire stuff" (his words, srsly):
I don't get to kill anyone. I really want to get to kill some people. I keep trying to convince them to let me have one little casualty. I mean, I just want to have one where I flip out and just kill a whole crowd. That'd be great. But, uh, I think Edward-- he's trying to hide it all the time, which is annoying. He's always trying to maintain, you know, the human.

The Bella/Edward relationship:
I've been trying to get more of the serious aspects. He's a 108 year old guy who's gonna live forever and hates himself and this girl-- I mean, when you put the bare facts out he tells her, "I've killed forty or fifty people and that you really shouldn't-- and I want to kill you so much, every single day. Every moment I'm with you, I'm desperately wanting to kill you." And she's like, "I don't care. I love you." And it's like, well, there's definitely something wrong with her and there's very obviously something wrong with me, and I just try to get that kind of relationship rather than just two teenagers who like each other.

And a bit of rehash, but it amuses me:
It's always such a bizarre situation, for him especially. He's like, "What am I doing with this kid. I'm 108 years old and I've fallen in love with this girl who sits next to me in Biology."

I know! I went from "oh, it's that guy from Harry Potter" to "hai, ilu," really quickly XD

*giggle* "hai, ilu"

it's your fault i made that transition.

(and obviously i'm very broken up about it.)

It's that quote right there that made me think, "Oh god, this movie might not suck as hard as I think it will."

Then again, it may be wishful thinking. Based on all the interviews, I think RPattz definitely has his head on straight about Edward. :D

I'm assuming that reading Midnight Sun reinforced his idea of Edward, so once again, I cannot wait for that to come out!

I'm confident that RPattz knows what he should be conveying, but it still has to go through editing and things can go wrong there! D:

There's a chapter or so of Midnight Sun on Stephenie Meyer's website, no idea if you've read that or not. It seems to me like Smeyer chose the one character she's worst at writing to do the POV from, because I liked the little I read of MS and I like all the Jacob's POV stuff better in BD.

Crazy business, this series. O_o

Yah, have read it and recommended it already. It was far more interesting than the entirety of Twilight, honestly.

The only way I can logic out the Bella POV is that she's a 17 year old girl who's incapable of being a reliable narrator, so her side of the story is insipid and flowery. She sees Edward as perfect, so that's how she talks about him. Meanwhile, Edward loathes himself so his POV will be colored by that.

I did like Jake's POV quite a bit, so Book 2 of Breaking Dawn was a bit less painful (grotesque birthing aside).

Oh god almighty, that birthing, wtf. If that makes it into the movie they're going to have to market it as a horror film. O_o

Basically, all they could do is, uh, rush her up the stairs and keep the camera downstairs with everyone else who is listening to the crazy screaming. Maybe some close-ups of Bella with the OMFGPAIN face and Edward with the OMFGSORRY face.

Though I suspect no one is ever going to have to storyboard that film...

I imagine a closeup on Edward's bloody hands would do it... and maybe a "good lord, she looks dead" shot of Bella.

I don't think so either, honestly. What a trainwreck, huh?

Or... a montage! A creepy, creepy montage.

I'm enjoying watching this mess from the sidelines and mocking it with friends. I think it's why I'm enjoying it so much, actually. Twihards, why so serious?

LOL I'm imagining a Whedonified montage -- creepy, but with some jaunty music.

I just laugh so hard. I'm having trouble reading the book without getting supremely irritated at the writing after a few pages, so that's slow going -- but Cleolinda's review just cracked me up for the last hour.

I guess I've read so much badfic in my life I can just blank out during the stuff that is really painful and push through.

Can we start over and just have this whole series written from Edward and Jacob's POVs? I think it'd be less painful.

I'd love Jacob's POV all the way through, that'd be fantastic. Boy's funny!

Yes, I'm not a Jacob/Bella person, but I do enjoy Jacob a lot.

I think Alice and Seth are my two favorite characters in the book as they're fun and drama free!

My favorites are Jacob, Sam, and Emmett (though I wasn't happy with the way Meyer wrote Sam in Breaking Dawn).

I think it's safe to say we're generally dissatisfied with Breaking Dawn, even with our already low expectations.

That reminds me. I absolutely love the Sam/Alice fic you wrote. Moar plz? :D

(Erm, I meant the mention of Sam reminded me, not the low expectations.)
