Work was.... meh. At least I kept busy. Listened to David Tennant reading Christopher Brookmeyer's Quite Ugly One Morning. Interesting crime novel....

My mom's plane is... oh, 4 hours late because of some weather crap going on in Chicago and she won't be in until almost midnight. Argh. So let me kill some time playing on the ol' LJ....

After work, I headed to the mall (ohnoes!). Stopped in at FYE to see if I couldn't finish off that gift card and found... Cylon MiniMates! It's a special Suncoast/FYE set of the new Cylons. I love MiniMates! XD

Then, of course, I headed in to Build-a-Bear and picked up Ten Bear. Come on, I've been thinking abuo tit all week! Granted, it's only Tuesday, but still. Long time planning this bear and the only irksome thing is that I didn't realize that the Bearemy model's feet are too big to really fit in the shoes properly. Ooops. So I'll only put him in them for photos.... which I have.

And here is Kaylee Bear (Kaywinnit Lee Frye), who is a Champ model bear. I also got her a qipao/cheongsam, but couldn't be bothered to dress her in today.. maybe another day.

When I got home from that little shopping trip, I discovered that my WhoNA order had arrived.... so now I own a TARDIS bank, a werewolf figure, and the Doctor Who: Inside Story book. Wheeee!

My one huge peeve with most action figures is that they don't look anything like the actors -- even if they tell you've they've been "sculpted" to capture the likeness. The Stargate figures, for example, are just horrendous. Teal'c is the only one that look half way decent, while the O'Neill figure looks the worst. Well, I have to say that I'm pretty impressed with the Character Options Doctor Who toy line. Everything has been nicely modeled and they look enough like the actors that I'm willing to buy them. Okay, no I'm not saying they look exactly right, but it's a pretty fair approximation.

No, really. It's way better than say.... Jack O'Neill against his toy. Which, also.. you know.. lazy, because they're using the same body for all the guys! (see Daniel)

I'm not sure what materials they're using on the figures, but the Doctor's coat is some sort of rubbery plastic material that's sort of flexible (but still doesn't allow much leg movement). His hands are the same material, which is kind of strange... but.. whatever. The werewolf figure is also the same -- most of the body is cast in a hard plastic, but the face and the hands are a more flexible, rubbery plastic. I wish there was more articulation in the figures, but overall, I'm pretty happy with them.

As for the bank... well, it's plastic coin bank. I probably won't be chucking a bunch of change in it, but it's fun to have! When you open the doors, it says one of several phrases from "The Christmas Invasion" and there is a picture of Rose and the Doctor inside the door. Closing the doors triggers the TARDIS sound and the flashing light at the top.

The Doctor and the TARDIS

Ohnoes! A werewolf!

And now... the Doctor lands on the planet of the mini!Cylons! See... these ones wouldn't be a problem. You could just squish 'em.

I never claimed to be anything other than a geek who wastes her money on silly, silly things. Yes. And now I am taking my geeky self away to watch some TV!

Wait, before I go... when I say my room is a disaster, generally people think I'm exaggerating. Oh, if only I were.... (and that's with the mess kind of straightened up!)
