After work on Friday, I stopped by Barnes & Noble to have a look at some CDs. I probably shouldn't have.... but, it wasn't much more than it would have been from Amazon. *shrug* While there, I got a text & then call from [livejournal.com profile] thebigfatman to see if I wanted to hang out that night. Which I did because it's always a fun time!

Before that though, I had an appointment at the eye doctor's. I need special glasses for the computer 'cause I'm going blind using my normal, full strength prescription. The whole thing took way longer and cost way more than I had expected. My stupid insurance plan only covers $25 of the cost -- I had thought that was a $25 copay. *sigh* I need them, though, so I paid :-P It was nearly 6:30pm by the time I got done and I wasn't able to get in touch with [livejournal.com profile] thebigfatman and [livejournal.com profile] pgnblade right away, so I hung out at Target for a little bit. Uhm. Probably not good since Gilmore Girls season 1 was actually in stock for $22. I bought it... [livejournal.com profile] athenaktt - I'm so weak!!!

Met [livejournal.com profile] thebigfatman & [livejournal.com profile] pgnblade and the mall around 7pm. Had dinner at Uno's. Our waitress was really peppy and amusing. After dinner, we stopped by Build A Bear, and of course the one employee who recognizes me was working! *facepalm* Yeah, I've been there way too many times. Then we killed a bunch of time at Best Buy, where I ended up buy the new Editors CD. Saw Gilmore Girls on sale for $48; yeah, no. We were going to see a movie, but seeing the crowds decided against it. After a stop at Starbucks, I went back home and got Treed Murray, then headed to their place to watch that (I think it was well recieved -- yay Hewlett!) and an episode of Ed vs. Spencer, which was awesome. It makes me sad that there are no torrents! *woe* I didn't get home until about 3am. The last time that happened might have been when I went to Saratoga with [livejournal.com profile] queenmaab.

While there, I was shown some rather amusing links:
+ Tom Gleeson mocking James Blunt's "You're Beautiful"
+ 10 Things I Hate About Commandments
+ Must Love Jaws
+ Firefoxflicks, in particular Wheeeeeeeee! and One Killer Browser
+ Teeny Little Super Guy!
+ Teeny Little Super Guy and the Baseball game

[livejournal.com profile] needia posted the most amusing X3 review ever. It is spoilery, but yeah. Is funny.

Why didn't anyone tell me Elijah Wood was on Punk'd? Oh, Elijah.

Today, lots of yardwork was done. Ow. And I made a call to [livejournal.com profile] eretria and had a lovely chat before the fam went out to dinner. Ended up going to a Thai sushi place. Had California rolls for dinner and fried bananas and green tea ice cream for dessert.

Got a really weird call from my da gu die (father's eldest sister's husband; no seriously, how do English speakers convey relations when speaking?!) where he asked about making a website more complicated than I could do and then went into asking how the family is and blah, blah, blah.

So far, the weekend's going pretty all right. Tomorrow is Sunday already?! Sheesh. Have a website jobby that I need to work on. And Monday is Boondock Saints day! Woohoo! *uses icon*

ETA: cynthialin.net no longer shows up on the first page of google. that hurts. just a little.

>>da gu die (father's eldest sister's husband; no seriously, how do English speakers convey relations when speaking?!)<<

ooooh! I love this. I was grumbly because English doesn't have a relationship word for an aunt's husband or uncle's wife, but the eldestsister's husband is fabulous! even better.

I guess it reflects the relative lack of importance of family relationships/connections in English-speaking societies, or else they'd make up a word, even if such a word didn't already exist.

Oh, yes. We have a title for almost every relation! That way you know exactly who someone is talking about. I know in English, it's way too confusing when you talk about an aunt or an uncle, for example -- which one on which side do you mean??

Uncle? lol. English isn't very specific with its relations.

Thanks for the Punk'd link -- I've added it to the YouTube favorites list I hope to remember to watch from home one day.

And what's the deal with the Boondock Saints -- is it a re-release or something?

It was really funny, actually. Poor Elijah.

The Boondock thing was a special one night screening to promote the release of a director's edition DVD and is basically the only time it has been or ever will be shown in US theaters.
