bones 1.01
Sep. 13th, 2005 08:37 pmT'was interesting. May likely torrent. Was shown fullscreen. WTF?
Emily Deschanel! (Who is Zooey's sister, so it was weird because the whole time I'mthinking "Trillian!" except... she's not.)
Two of Brennan's quotes that I found amsuing:
+ whenever someone makes a pop culture reference: "I don't know that that means."
+ whenever someone talks about emotional things: "I don't like psychology."
I really liked Emily playing the main character. She was... snarky and intelligent and has some kick-ass fighting skills. At the same time, she was socially inept and doesn't understand people at all.
David Boreanaz was... very Angel-like. Well, Angel when he was being funny and goof and clueless. I liked that he was more a supporting player to Deschanel's lead because honestly, I thought Boreanaz did better at supporting than carrying a whole series.
The tech used was pretty interesting - I liked that Brennan had her own little geek squad, that she was socially inept but she did have a support system there and wasn't just the weird girl who played with bones. Well, she is the weird girl who plays with bones, but she has three other playmates.
In conclusion. I was pleasantly amused and the premiere was better than I expected. Of course, I wasn't expecting much, so it wasn't as if I could be that disappointed. May likely torrent in the future and perhaps would buy a DVD set, but I don't think this will be a show I'd have to watch every week.
