car issues; work; birthday!
Sep. 3rd, 2003 02:13 amMom came home early so we could go pick up the Volvo. Um, yay? We got to the mechanic's and the plan was basically for her to dump two bottles of oil into the car so she could drive it back. Before she left, the mechanic gave her a paper basically stating that he told her not to drive it, so it's not his fault. Oy. So off my mom goes in the car that has no brakes and there I am following slowly behind her. Not 5 minutes on the road we have to pull into a parking lot because the battery's died. She drove me to work in the Jeep because I was already late, then went back to wait for Ben to come look at the car and see what's up. I guess it was just a bad connection, 'cause he moved some wires and it was okay to go. He drove it back for us and just as it made it to the driveway, the transmission light thingy came on. Two bottles of oil dripped out of the car in about an hour's time. Greaaat. My father called my mom and asked about the car ... then yelled at her for not calling him when it died on the road. Why would she call him? Oh, because it happened to him twice on his way back from Hunter. Gee, thanks for telling us. We are so not repairing the brakes, the transmission, the engine, and whatever else is leaking or about to break. Donation it is. Mom's calling the Kidney Foundation tomorrow.
Work. Nightmare. Didn't help that I got stuck with someone who sat around and twiddled her thumbs while I was recovering the store. Though in all fairness, she did put the reshelves away. Hrm. On the plus side, finally found out Guy-who-looks-like-Dave's name is. I like him. He's more mellow than Dave and lacks the slightly creepy vibe that kept me from liking liking Dave. Well, that and he has a girlfriend. Music!Boy was there and since the store was actually dead, he wandered over (likely under a manager's direction) to see what he could do to help. He looked a little lost at Info, so I took him over to the fiction & other stuff side and told him he could straighten, 'cause I didn't get there yet; was still doing other side of store. So he did. Very quickly and I suspect sloppily, but still, it was done and at that point I didn't much care. I thanked him and told him he was my favorite for helping with straightening. *hee* Dude.. and he put away magazines! o_O Def my favorite person of the night.
Yay!! It's my birthday! Thanks to

marvelgirl about all those cool-looking Japanese tatts and what they really mean: Lost in Translation
I am now 22 years old. Sometimes I don't feel that old. Sometimes I feel older.
