amezri: (Oh reeeally?)

Because I want to procrastinate as long as possible before I have to clean my room, here are all the posts for the Cassandrea has a stalker storyline. Poor Cassie...

/Oh crap, hide me!/ she thought in a panic. Today was definitely not a good day people-wise. First the incident with Alison and now her own private stalker was making his way towards her.

"Cassandrea. Hey!" he waved, slithering over to her. Dressed casually in khakis and a button-down oxford shirt, Ben made his way to her side and draped an arm around her shoulders. "Where've you been? I left a bunch of messages on your voice mail."

Trying to act as casual and aloof as she could manage, Cassie smiled and stepped out of his reach. "Yeah, I've been busy. Lots of stuff going on. You know how that is." Her eyes darted around the quad, looking for a familiar face. She'd only known Ben for a short time and he seemed like a nice enough guy - but then the calls started. Nothing obscene, but pieced together they made for some really unsettling messages. She didn't even know how he got her number. Cassie hadn't told anyone about them, feeling a little bit embarrassed at the unwelcomed attention. Anyway, she figured, she could handle one normal human - no matter how freaky. Mutant superpowers and all.

"Yeah, I know. Being in school sucks." He flashed a crooked smile. "Hey, I'm going to get something to eat. Want to come?"

"No, thanks," she said through a forced smile. "I'm meeting someone in a little while." She turned and started walking towards the parking lot.

Ben dashed in front of her, blocking her path. "Come on, just a quick snack or something. Hey listen - I'll pay. My treat."

She slitted her eyes. "I don't think so," she hissed, side-stepping him. She was well aware that Ben was still following her as she walked quickly to her car. She cursed as she remembered that she had parked in the far lot this morning. There were few cars at this hour and no other students present. Even in broad daylight, the scene made her nervous.

"Look, Ben, I'm really sorry, but I have a ton of things to do. I'm going home, okay? I'll.. .see you."

Ben frowned then, as Cassie unlocked her doors. "Cassie, wait..."

Cassandrea opened her door and sighed. "What?"

The boy looked down at the pavement and ran a hand through his hair. "I just... I thought you liked me, you know? Because I like you. A lot. You're... beautiful."

/Okay, that's it. He's really starting to scare me now./ Cassie did a really dumb thing then - she didn't get in her car. "Look, that's really flattering, but I have a boyfriend." /Good, go for the "my boyfriend is going to kick your ass defense."/ "And.. I've never really thought of you that way."

"That's not true!"

/Don't taunt the psycho!/ a part of her brain was screaming. /Get back in the car!/ Cassandrea, however, didn't always do the smart thing. "Which part is that?" she snorted.

"You don't have a boyfriend. I've never seen him! You never talk about him--"

"To you. I never talk about him to you--"

"And I've seen the way you look at me. The way you're dressed when we meet."

Cassandrea froze. /What the hell?!/ "Listen, I don't know what your problem is, but I have *never* looked at you in any way other than the way that you are a guy I know. And I don't *dress* for *you.* I don't even know when I'm going to see you! You just creep up on me! Like some.. some.. stalker!" /Oh, yeah. That was real smart./

"Stalker? You think I'm a stalker?"

"Ben, let's just drop it, okay?"

"No. You think I'm a stalker. I didn't mean... I never meant for you to think that about me. I just... really like you."

With a pitious smile, Cassandrea moved to get in her car. "I'm sorry, Ben."

"Yeah, me too," he said quietly. "Hey." She turned to face him, gasping when his eyes turned into cold, black pools. "I didn't want it to be this way." He grabbed her head and slammed it into the door frame, rendering her unconscious.

-----

Groaning at the pain in her head and wrists, Cassandrea opened her eyes slowly. Rule one when getting knocked out by a psycho: figure out where the psycho is. Unfortunately, he was sitting directly across from her. /Oh this is just perfect,/ she thought furrowing her brow. /Ow. Okay, no facial expressions./

"Oh, good, you're awake. I thought maybe I had knocked you into a coma or something," Ben chuckled.

She glared at him. /Yeah, that's really considerate of you./ In her attempt to stand she found that her hands and feet were bound with some sort of gooey substance. Testing the bonds, she found that they were quite strong but had the smallest amount of elasticity. /Don't panic. Do *not* panic./ It was a little late for that.

"Water?" he reached for a water bottle and stood, holding it out to her. Cassandrea shook her head. He shrugged and took a gulp. "You had a pretty nasty gash on your head. I patched it up for you."

/Let's not forget who put it there,/ she thought grimly. "Where am I?" Her best guess put her in one of the storage warehouses - far enough from main campus that if she screamed, it was unlikely that anyone would hear her. Her heart pounded faster in her chest.

"I always thought you were pretty." He crouched down beside her and fingered a lock of indigo hair. "I've wanted to tell you that since the first time I saw you."

She whipped her head back, lamely flipping her hair out of his grasp. "People are going to come looking for me." /Oh, gods, please let someone be on their way,/ she thought desperately.

"Yeah." He stated it simply, letting his hand drop. It scared her how much he didn't care. He stood and paced around the room. "You know, you play these games with me."

"I've never played any games, Ben. I thought we were friends. That's all."

"You're lying!" he shouted, slamming the water bottle into the cement floor. His eyes turned into those black pools then, his face twisting into a maniacal grin. "But it's okay. I can play too."

Cassandrea threw herself against the wall so fast she smacked her head against the metal paneling. She pressed her eyes closed against the compounded pain. Opening them again, she took notice of the water pooling at her feet. /What the hell am I doing? You have powers, use them you stupid girl./

Taking several deep breaths to center herself, she shifted into water form and tried to slide quickly out of her bonds. It was more difficult than it seemed: like an oil slick, the substance spread across her liquid skin, and it took several attempts before she was completely free. Taking the shape of a lamia - half snake, half woman - and silently thanking Ms. Munroe for the Danger Room sessions, she wound her way through the maze of boxes and equipment towards the exit.

"Come back here, you bitch!" Ben shouted as he ran after her.

Quickening her pace, she broke through the double doors into the fading sunlight of late afternoon. She stopped for a second, trying to figure out where the hell she was. The pause cost her, though. Ben was hot on her heels, shortening the gap between them.

"Never an X-Team around when you need one," she hissed. She veered left towards what was hopefully upper campus. "Shit!" She slid to a stop as Ben appeared in front of her.

He shook his head, smiling that twisted smile. "Why can't you just admit we were meant to be?" His jaw dropped open and black tendrils shot out of his mouth, covering Cassandrea in the tar-like substance.[/i]

------------

Flailing on the grass like a dolphin caught in a net, she gasped for air. She shifted back to her fleshy-self to slow the spread of the subtance and screamed as some the tar became embedded into her muscles and skin. /Crap. Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap. Next time I'm late for class, I'm not going. If there is a next time.../ With the hand that was still free, she formed an orb and threw it towards Ben. It sloshed harmlessly against the ground. /Bad aim. Bad, bad, horrible aim./

"Hey! What the fuck do you think you're doing, you creep?" a familiar voice shouted.

/Alison. If she gets me out of here, I will never be mean to her again. Well, not never. But I'll be nicer, I swear./ Cassandrea tried shouting to the blonde, but breathing was becoming an issue.

Halting his attack on Cassie, he turned to face the newcomer. "Who the hell are you?"

"Just a concerned student," Alison replied jovially. "And, dude, you just barfed some really nasty goo all over my friend there."

"It's none of your business," he growled. "Get out of here!"

Not feeling particularly threatened by this lowlife, Alison stood her ground, turning up the volume on her discman. "I think you're the one who should get gone." She started with a low-level light show, prepared to pump it up to blinding if the guy pushed her.

"Oooh, fireworks. How scary!" Ben mocked. "What kind of lame power is that?"

/Jubes would so fry your ass for that,/ Cassie thought with a small bit of satisfaction.

Ben opened his mouth again, shooting a stream of tar at Alison. The Dazzler was quick on her feet, though, and out of the way in a flash - literally. She intensified the energy she was putting out and it looked as though she had disappeared in a flash of light.

"Hey, lame ass, I'm over here!" she taunted from behind him. He turned to face her and she flashed more multi-colored lights in his face, stunning him. Alison ran over to Cassie, wiping the tar from her face.

Cassandrea coughed and gulped much needed oxygen into her lungs. "We have to get out of here."

"No shit," Alison grimaced, wiping more of the black tar from Cassie's body, glancing up now and then to make sure Ben was stumbling around. "Man, what is this crap?" Cassandrea hissed as some of her skin was removed with the black goo. "I can't get it off. I'll have to ca--"

Cassie watched in horror as Ben tackled the blonde, her head making a dull thud on the ground. He straddled her and started to wrap her in a sticky cocoon while she struggled, orbs of light flashing all over. "Alison!"

He looked upon her with souless eyes. "Don't worry. I won't let her spoil our fun." Leaving Alison sufficiently incapacitated, Ben threw Cassandrea over his shoulder and lugged her back towards the warehouse.[/i]

-----------

After Ben had dragged her back into the warehouse, he dropped her on the cold floor and stood over her, just staring at her with those black eyes. After awhile, he'd started alternating between pacing and talking to himself and screaming at her for about an hour before he mumbled something about his mother and left her alone in the dark.

/Just my luck. Stalked by a college guy with a mommy complex./ Cassie struggled, not making much progress against the sticky tar that encased her. She'd chanced shifting into liquid form once, but the stuff started spreading again and she was forced to change back.

/Someone's on the way. I'm *sure* someone's on the way. Kurt must have noticed that I'm gone by now. Hell, Jubes was supposed to ambush me so I could help her pick a dress for her date. She *definitely* would have noticed./ She wimpered at the pain of the tar still embedded in her flesh. Pain was good, though. Pain gave her something to focus on.

/Maybe I could get some light in here at least./ "Dark of night give way to light. Shine thy rays to...to.." She growled in frustration. /I know this. I know how to do this./ She took a deep breath and tried again. "Dark of night give way to light. Shine thy brilliant rays to ease thy child's plight." A tiny spec appeared in the air, expanding until it was about the size of a softball, illuminating the immediate area with golden light. Cassandrea sighed and slouched against the crate at her back.

There comes a point when constant pain becomes so dull, you don't feel it anymore. Cassandrea hit that point some time around 9:00pm. That's when she started freaking out.

"Where the hell are you guys! Come on, where's the crack team of mutant superheroes to rescue me?" she hissed. "Somebody get me the hell out of here!" she screamed uselessly. "Kurt, get your fuzzy blue ass in here!"

Using the crate for support, she struggled to stand up, but only succeeded in banging her head against the concrete when she fell forward. "Damn it. Now I probably have a concussion. Are you guys happy now? I have a concussion because you couldn't get your leather-wearing asses in here fast enough!" She scream in frustration, shouting every curse she had ever heard.

"Somebody...somebody's coming for me," she said quietly, fighting back tears. "They'll be here. They'll be here soon."
