Christmas!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas! (Or at least enjoyed the day off if it's not your thing.)

We had a huge dinner (cooked by my mom & [livejournal.com profile] seijitataki) at home with the family as well as Kelly, Linda, and her dog, Kismet. Good times. There was way too much food for just 5 people, but it was all good. Broccoli casserole? Surprisingly tasty. After dinner, they of course had their choice of movies, but Kelly asked me what my favorite movies was and I said right now -- Stardust. So we watched that and they all liked it.

And now for something completely not in the spirit of the season: This year's Christmas haul, in which I write down what I got so I can remember later...

+ movie passes
+ Wei East lip care products
+ gift certificate to Jean-Paul Spa (so I can get my hair cut by a "professional stylist" yay!)
+ Best Buy gift card
+ X-Files Season 3
+ X-Files Season 4
+ Angel Season 2 (I think I already mentioned that before..)
+ Angel Season 3 (no, really, did you two coordinate that or just have gift buying ESP?)
+ 60GB portable hard drive (yay [livejournal.com profile] seijitataki!)

That last one? I am putting to use right now. It's so... awesome. Basically I'm just going to be using it for torrents, random downloads that I plan on burning right away, and maybe an extra back-up copy of my photos. Still in the testing phase and I want to rename the drive and put on a custom icon, but really I haven't the slightest idea what yet. A TARDIS perhaps? Yes. But a name... hm...

Speaking of, new Doctor Who aired tonight - Voyage of the Damned. Can't wait to get my hands on that. I think it'll be great! I'm avoiding all talk of it for the time being...

Anyway. Right now, I'm going to bed. Have to go to work in the morning. Blech. Don't want to.

Have picked out a name for my new portable drive: Castiana. And I've changed the default icon to the Storj one here. Yes.

My VHS copy of White Dwarf came in today. I meant to just watch it to check if the tape was in good condition and ended up watching the whole thing again! You know that thing, where if you come back to something you used to love when you were younger the magic kind of wears off? Well... I have to admit that White Dwarf has lost a bit of the shine. Watching it now, 12 years later, I do feel it's a bit choppy, but as a pilot for a series it works fabulously and I really wish it had gotten the green light. I still love the setting and the weirdness and we never really learned anything about the Two Ladies as it was all just setup. I want to know more about Ariel (princess with a backbone!) and Osho and Never. On the plus side, they didn't leave us hanging too long about what happened to Driscoll's wife and son and the conclusion was, you know, actually a conclusion unlike what we got with Tin Man. Overall, I thought some of the acting was a bit stiff... especially Neal McDonough. Can't decide if it was the material or what but while I liked the narration part, some of the scenes were sort of awkward. Still, I like it enough after all these years that I do want to try and get it transfered to DVD.

Oh. Speaking of Tin Man -- for anyone interested, the DVD will be out in March. Two-disc set they are saying, with extras that include a 30min Making Of feature (probably the one that was on SciFi?), a special DVD featurette, cast interviews, and a gag reel. $24.95 SRP, which means it ought to be affordable when it hits the stores.
