work; gallery reception; suco reunion
Mar. 11th, 2005 11:37 pmFirst of all....
hathien!! I miss you muchly! Sorry I wasn't around to chat. Hope you get better soon!
Today was a very busy day, filled with some unexpected meetings. The show opening was tonight and there were some things that needed to be taken care of before the reception, so I spent 5 hours doing all that stuff, not knowing exactly where that five hours went. Took 30 minutes to move my car to short term parking because I couldn't find a spot in short term. So stupid. Went back in and as people were trickling into the reception, I took some photos. Actually, I spent the entire evening taking photos of.. people... looking at stuff. Meh. I don't know if the shots came out any good, but I took a fair number, I think. Oh well.
My mother and Eve showed up around 6:00pm and had a look around. Matt showed up shortly after. I had IMed him this morning to let him know about the reception and wasn't even sure if he would come. Haven't seen him in something like two years. Whoa. As I'm talking to him, he says, "oh there's Jeff & Kara." Uh. I look down through the windows and there they are. Dude. What? I didn't even know they were in Albany. Matt, it seems, had been waiting for Jeff to call him - which he did today. He mentioned that he was coming to the gallery opening tonight and Jeff & Kara (who is expecting a baby in July!) said they'd make an appearance since they were in town. Aw, yay! I haven't seen them in ages either. Then I'm told that Andy, Sam, and Ian (who I didn't know) were also coming. It was a regular Oneonta reunion.
People mingled. I took photos. There was chatting. Introduced people; did a pretty poor job of it, too. Spent two hours running between rooms and the shop. Meh. I wasn't really thrilled with the photography job I'd done and it was frustrating because there were so many people just clustered. Blah. Found out the owner/manager of the catering company is related to Jeff. Heh.
At some point, my mom & Eve left to go shopping and have dinner. The others didn't last too much longer, since the younger ones wanted to go have dinner at Ichiban. At first I didn't know what they were talking about - I thought it was that Japanese place - and I wasn't too interested. Later I found out it was the Chinese place on Western, and I was even less excited because we ordered from there every week when I worked at the Bead Place of DOOM. So, I didn't know if I was going to go because I was going to go with Sharon and some artists to dinner... also, I didn't know when I was going to be done doing what I was supposed to be doing. I mentioned to Bonnie about friends going to dinner, and she tol dme I could just go. so.. uh.. I did XD After hanging out in the shop for a little bit.
Met up with Jeff, Kara, Sam, Andy, Ian, and Pete at Ichiban. Ordered chicken chow fun and a Sprite. Chatted. Was amused. Watched Pete with his really bad Mandarin skills try to pick up the waitress. Sam and I were laughing at the ineptitude. The waitress looked scared. *hee*
When we left, I mentioned to Matt that I might be going to see Constantine in a week or two if he wanted to come, since he hadn't seen it yet. (Uhm.. so..
queenmaab, wanna go see "Constantine" this week?) Found out that he's living with Tischler for the moment, which is funny since I used to work with him at Oneonta and now Matt works with him at Albany. It is a really small world.
It's time for bed. Looks like I'm going to have to work tomorrow. Oy. Haven't seen SG-1 or Atlantis and that makes me sad. I'll have to get right on torrenting those this weekend. Maybe. I'm so behind. Goodnight!
P.S. One of the catering boys looked like Ryan Gosling when he had the short blonde hair and fauxhawk. Meaning he was t3h hotness and I found myself staring at him all night.
