My computer is a big fat bitch. Stopping by CompUSA on the way home tomorrow to pick up a Wireless PCI card. As my machine depises USB and seems to be okay with a PCI ethernet (which is what I had for school), I'll chance getting that. If nothing else, my brother can have it or something. I don't know.

So, yeah. I hate my computer right now. Like, really, really a lot.

But I watched "Knight's Tale" commentary, which was amusing. I was amused for about 2 hours before I came back to look at this stupid thing. *fongs it*

Why yes, I did pick up a new bit of vocabulary from the movie. Fong meaning "kick". Amused. See?

Too bad.

I'm not sure what kind of error this is, but apparently if I'm just on AIM and sending a couple messages, it's totally fine. Break out IE and it's all over. It *has* to be some sort of USB or adapter problem. So definitely getting that card today. I tested the signal from the back of the machine and all the wires and metal and crap must be helping 'cause I can get a 40% signal & link, where normally I can only get a 33% with the adapter sitting on the floor over the router.

Geek geek. Geek geek geek. Geek. Nerd geek. Geek dork geek geek. Geek?

Oh yes. Bought my train tickets to Marist. [livejournal.com profile] trippininabox got my concert ticket the other day. Yay! Now I just need her package to arrive so I can exchange her Two Tower set. Apparently it got shipped to her without DVDs in it. Which is stupid. And she has no Walmart near her and Walmart.com won't accept returns through the mail if it's a gift. Stoopid people.

Work. Yay? The weather's pretty crappy so I'm betting the store will be really busy. Meaning I have to stay for my on-call shift. Really wish I didn't have to.

Random hugs to Saff, Sez, Bree, Dee, Stace, and Soul'. Just 'cuz.

Was at the register until 6pm, so that made my day go by a lot faster. Info was busy, but I spent the time putting away reshelves, so that was all right.

After work, mom took me to CompUSA to get a wireless card. It was, honestly, an impulse by as I got the Linksys for $69.99. Rushed home to install the thing - had my brother help me because working on my computer makes me freak out. Of course, we had all sorts of problems. First the machine didn't want to shut down or restart - then it wouldn't install the drivers properly. After trying to reinstall like 6 times, I decided to rip out my regular ethernet card. Shut down, restarted, checked to make sure they were removed. Machine was netwrok free. Installed the wireless card - went in without even asking for the drivers or a Windows disk. No errors. My machine shuts down, restarts, and doesn't freeze on start up. Oy, it's fantastic. I'm actually getting a better signal right now than I was with the USB adapter. Anyway, basically my ethernet card was screwing up my machine :-P Should have figured, since it came out of Oneonta XD Only half kidding.. heh. Actually, it's not even the card I originally bought - I think Teri had swapped it with another one kicking around the Help Desk when I was having that webhancer problem. Who knows how old that thing really is. We're gonna toss it. No sense in keeping it really. Unless someone needs a spare ethernet card?

Off to get dinner before I chat with the NZ girls.

Yay! Internet!
