amazon mp3s

Well. I resisted for quite a while, but I've just installed the Amazon.com MP3 Downloader and purchased my first album - Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog -- which is $5 today!

It was a pretty painless install and it seems to work smoothly. I'm downloading the tracks right now.s far as I can tell, they are all high quality, DRM free tracks, which is pretty cool. All the tracks are tagged properly, which is also pretty awesome, since that's one problem I have with Amie Street.

I think my one issue with Amazon is that you can't just redownload on demand, which Amie Street does let you do.

Weird. You post that Gizmodo list after I just finished reading it (I kind of scared myself because I could count the things beyond my abilities on one hand with fingers to spare).

And I actually just downloaded some mp3s from Amazon for the first time last night. And I was VERY impressed. Higher quality than even iTunes' DRM-free mp3s. And they have sales like crazy. AND it downloads them way faster than iTunes. It even added them to my iTunes library (and automatically "checked" them so they'll be synced the next time I connect my iPhone). If they come out with a program for the iPhone (which I'm sure Apple wouldn't allow, but maybe on a jailbroken iPhone) I'll never have to use the iTunes store again.

I use Amazon. I bought the Dr. Who soundtracks, Rhianna's latest and a few others that way. It even works on a Mac, which is awesome.

I need to get the latest one, too. I love that I can put it on everything. I need to upload more of my songs on my iPod while I'm at it.
