jackhole!
Wow, there asn't been any good jackhole wankery in months. So of course, today we have a big one.
My mom is on the phone with the jackhole right now. He called to ask her some stupid shit and got into what checks he has in the house. Then he proceeded to ask her what all the checks she wrote on their joint account* were for. Oh, you know, things like mortgage and taxes and my brother's tuituion - totally frivolous purchases! *rollseyes* He tells her to stop writing checks from his account - because why should he have to pay for things like repairs he ordered done and tazes that he owes?! Nevermind the fact that they own a lot of money because they used the house to secure a loan when they had a restaurant like 10 years ago and they're still trying to pay it off - is my mother supposed to be the only one responsible for that?! So of course then they get into an arguement and the jackhole tells her that he's going to close the account and he's not going to give her any more money. Suddenly we get my mother saying that he better all his paperwork in order for a divorce and what he'll pay for and what he won't and suddenly he says some shit about how they can sell our house and split the money. WTF?! And so she tells him that he can sell his NYC condo and split that too and suddenly he's all backing out saying no, she can have the house then. Yeah, okay, jackass. At one point my mother called him a jerk - but it was in this weird not exactly pissed tone. I don't know. Anyway. And I'm standing by the sink coughing "asshole" progressively louder.
Meh. Then I left and my mother hung up the phone and he hasn't called back. *shrug*
* let me clarify - this is an account he opened for himself two or three years ago and in a bizarre fit of insanity put my mother's name on the account so she could write checks. this was, presumably, for when he was out of town and had bills to pay so she could write them for him
Oh. And he also got another parking violation. For $150. Which he doesn't feel like he has to pay, so my mother has to because the car is registered under her name.

jackhole . . .
I didn't know he didn't live in the house anymore -- that's good, I guess. Your poor mom though, she's so sweet and level-minded.
I have to admit, one of the best things about being away from home is that I don't have to deal with it. Luckily, dad helps me out a bit with money, but then I don't have to listen to the arguing and stress and the tangibleness of it all in the room; it's enough to make my blood pressure go to 120/90, I bet. But at least I get the sense of knowing that neither of my parents is really a jerk -- mom's just ill and my father is easily stresable/picky.
Anyhow, I'm hoping their new house might be a little more spacious; whenever I go home now I feel stifled and usually am crying by day 2.
But, as I bet you feel too, I cannot wait until that day, about 3 years from now for me, when I get my first paycheck and take financial control of my life! It will feel great to be independent even in that facet of life . . .
Okay. Just know I'm thinking of you.
Cheers!
Arline
ps. Mao loves you even though he's never met you: he just requested to chew on your 1st metacarpal. He thinks all 1st metacarpals have a nice consistency, and I told him about your polmolive-commerical-worthy hands ;) He promises not to break your skin . . . probabaly
Re: jackhole . . .
and make us miserablebut we haven't seen him in ages. Which is good.Sometimes I wonder how much of it is me being the cranky pre-adult who hates their overbearing parents, but then he does something true crazy and I remember it's not just me. Heh.
If you're still feeling stifled when you come home for a visit, look me up. Still at the same place. Heh.
LOL Kitty! I like kitties. And my commercial-worthy hands are now all scared and bruised for opening boxes and stuff at work :-P
