Work sucked today. Meh. Whatever. Nothing new there.

Got home. Brother had made dinner. Then I convinced him to watch SGA with me. "Critical Mass," "Grace Under Pressure," "The Tower," "Conversion," and "Aurora." I was impressed that he sat through all of them since he keeps saying he doesn't like the show :-P devildoll - I didn't have any problems playing the burned files, except I had to switch one of the video preferences to NTSC instead of Multi and that on some of the files, the audio sync in the last few minutes was a little off.

It seems my desktop is going through death throws. It just did the weird click-ping thing a few mintues ago. My borhter and I can't figure out what's wrong, other than the fact that the thing is 7 or 8 years old so parts are probably failing. He doesn't think it's a drive issue, so most likely if it dies completely, I'll at least be able to get my stuff off both drives. While he's home during break, I'm probably going to use his external drive enclosure to hook the drives to Talyn to burn stuff to DVD. Would be much easier than trying to use CD-Rs. Then I'm going to have to look into spending money to buy a new system. pgnblade, are you still willing to help me out with that? Looks like I'll be needing it soonish.

In the meantime, the bro says it'd probably be better if I turned the machine off when I wasn't using it and I'll probably keep my usage limited to Photoshop things I might be doing. I'll use Talyn for the browsing and mail.

PS, AIM won't be on 24/7 now, so if I'm not on, DON'T PANIC (ozw :-P)

Okay, off to bed. And... turning off the computer. Seriously, this thing has not been shut down for any length of time in. Years. YEARS. *sad*

Dear Universe: I hate you. A lot.

So this morning, I open my computer case and clean out some of the dust and whatnot to see if maybe that might help with the noise. Then I get seijitataki up here so he can have a look at it. Well, I turn it on and it's making that whine. He's talking with pgnblade to see if they can figure out what's wrong -- CPU is going, or it's the power supply -- and next thing you know, it makes the click-ping, and everything freezes. Yay :-P So we wait a minute and suddenly it makes the click-ping again and I get a blue screen telling me I have a drive C: error. Well. Fuck. Quickly just shut it all off and haven't touched it since. I'm going to try using his drive enclosure to see if I can move data to Talyn to back it up on disc ASAP.

pgnblade is going to help me spec out a build a new system, for which I will be eternally grateful. If I didn't have Talyn right now, I'd be crying liekwhoa. If I can't get the data off the drive, I might cry anyway.

Woe, I say. WOE.

Right. So, my computer is toast and it's looking like I'll need $600 to build a new one.

Would anyone be interesting in buying art prints from me? Or even photo prints. I will print 4x6, 5x7, and 8x10 and matte them. They'll be inkjet prints on matte photo paper, which gives them a nice silkscreened look.

Work today pretty much sucked. At least I got to close at 7 instead of 8. Meh. Tomorrow she changed my schedule to 1-6 instead of 2-7. Whatever.

I got cards in the mail from jen_ella, superswank, and imacartwright (did you make your card? it's really lovely!). Thank you all so much!

After I got home, I really couldn't bare to even touch the desktop to fiddle with trying to get files off it. So... I'm probably going to try it tomorrow night. Am so depressed about this whole thing I kind of just want it to go away. *sigh*

Gonna go read some fic and then go to bed.
