They just did something weird with the Android app - updated it so the "classic"version tells you to update to the new version and then they added the "new" version (which has been the app for the last monthor so) as a separate app you install and there's still no way to change your userpic when you postor comment. WHAT ARE YOU DOING, LJ?

Srsly. Why is it so hard to add an option to choose your userpic? Is it a hidden option somewhere? You can't pick your mood either. If I could mine right now would be frustratedor irritated.

I just updated to the new LiveJournal App on android and it seems to work, but how the hell do you change the userpic and stuff like that here?

The interface is nicer, though, which makes me wish my iPod would open the updated app so I don't have to drain my phone battery to read LJ. Meh.

Who's still posting here? I keep telling myself I'm going to come back and start making posts here because Tumblr is just full of jerks. And Facebook keeps revealing which of my real life friends are jerks.

So, I'm going to make an effort to post here. Probably not fannish stuff, but I should because no one wants to hear me whine all the time. I'll try!

The Android app still works but the new iOS app is awful on my old iPod and just crashes constantly. Right now I'm using the mobile web version of the site to read and comment. So weird. Anyway, I'll try to catch up with things here!

I am super-bad at checking the email attached to my Livejournal account, so I always miss my v-gift notifications. Just wanted to post and say thanks to:

- [livejournal.com profile] springwoof for the gingerbread man

- [livejournal.com profile] forcryinoutloud for the gingerbread, pumpkin cookie, panda, and bronze lj pencil.

<3 you guys!

Trying out the LJ app for iOS. Latest version seems to be more stable so it'll be nice to be able to use this to...write more? Maybe not. But hey - apps!

There doesn't seem to be a drafting ability, which is annoying so I'll probably still use Nebulous to write entries when I don't have wifi.

At least now I might finally catch up on reading people's entries.

Point of reference, this is IMO something I think is worth getting upset over, rather than silly design changes.

Alright, I am not drunk enough to deal with this, so I'm just going to put out this PSA:

Livejournal Scrapbook is going away. Your 10GB of Paid Member space is now 2GB. If you care, there is an explanation in Russian on the Russian news page. There's also a user-submitted translation.

+ You will no longer have access to your Scrapbook once this goes live.
+ Your images will redirect, but the URL will be different.
+ Unable to tell what will happen to any photos you have that put you over the 2GB limit.
+ Back up your Scrapbook just in case.
+ If you want your photos transferred over now instead of waiting, let them know here.

ETA: Here is the official English release from Livejournal, which is a little less scary that the rough translation.

thank you!

Thanks for the v-gifts, [livejournal.com profile] forcryinoutloud! :D Nice to come back to!

I seriously need to start writing Livejournal posts of substance. Today was probably not the day to be doing that, though, since there will be some server move at 8am PST. It's scheduled to last 4 hours.

But, hey. I'll throw in an actual post.

Been listening to some new music lately. Latest Doctor Who and Torchwood soundtracks are fab. I like Pink's new album, Funhouse, as well. A lot of good songs. One album I'm not that into: Flyleaf's self-titled. I think [livejournal.com profile] queenmaab likes them and I get it, but the lyrics bother me. There are some not so subtle religious things and... eh. I'm not into that so I think I'll be dumping the album except for a few tracks.

In other news... massive DVD release day today! I'm heading out in a minute to pick up some new releases and some other great deals, like La Femme Nikita for $14.99 each. Sweet. Out today are Tropic Thunder, Wall-E, and Doctor Who season 4. Best Buy has a steelbook edition of DW, but I'm not sure I'm going to like it. I'm not a huge fan of steelbooks, so it'll depend how bad I want a copy of it on hand right now. Otherwise, I'll just order it from Amazon for $5 less.

Also stopping at Target to pick up Tropic Thunder as their special edition includes a patch. Must have. Target is also apparently selling Tim Tams and I need a box of those liekrightnow.

Okay, off I go to the store! WHEEE!

Third time around is just as good! XD All the funny parts are still funny and all the other parts are still great. Still love the scene where Pepper has to switch out the arc reactor. Favoritest ever! Well, plus the R&D stuff is great and Dummy and Butterfingers and I love Pepper and that thing at the end where she's all, "what night?" I don't think I'm really going to get tired of this movie or watching Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark.

[livejournal.com profile] smashedrecords knew what shoes Pepper was wearing because the sole was red XD And also, Major Allen in Edwards Air Force base? Vala's husband. I kept thinking he looked really familiar, but didn't really know who he was until Tanya pointed it out.

----

Uhm. Right. So my day was not all about Iron Man. [livejournal.com profile] erintheodd and I met up with Dion and Tanya in Woodstock. Had a nice time walking around. Bought way too many things including an Envirosac (really useful!) and two skirts.

[livejournal.com profile] seijitataki made dinner and we convinced him to actually go out and see a movie with us. I think he enjoyed it.

Livejournal User-Representation Elections! You can read the candidates' platforms here.

Hopefully this will make some sort of difference in the way Livejournal is being run, but I kinda doubt it. Still, I have voted.

Hmm.. what did I do today...

After a really, extra long day at work (well, it felt that way anyway) I decided to head over to Joann's to see if I could find containers for the lucky stars I've been folding. No luck. Apparently they don't carry jars/bottles/covered containers anymore (wtf?!). I got some nice scrapbooking paper, though, which was half off and I think I might have enough patience to cut them up and use those for a while. I did manage a couple containers -- bath items from the $1 section. The large test tube ones for bath salts and soap bottles. All plastic with no labels. Perfect for some trials and stupid gifts!

After that I headed over to FYE. I'm going to Edgefest with [livejournal.com profile] queenmaab, so I had to get a ticket. Easy. Of course, I stopped in their clearance section to rummage through $3 used DVDs. Came back with 4 XD One of them was the fourth Lexx TV movie. Sweet!

Stopped at Hannaford on the way as well. Got some Compleats, which make a yummy lunch, and some yogurt. Boooring stuff, I know.

After I got home, I had some dinner and fiddled with the stereo system. Apparently, my father did actually set up right and all I had to do was plug the cables into the new TV. So now we have an adequate surround sound system for watching movies and whatnot. I think the levels and stuff still need to be tweaked because it's not exactly right, but damn, the thing actually all works!

[livejournal.com profile] crushw_eyeliner brought to my attention LJ's more aggressive use of Omniture. You can read the entry about here, but basically, they're going to be tracking hits, links out, referrals, etc. Basic site statistics, actually. But if you would like to opt out:

  • Go to the admin console.

  • Input Command: set opt_exclude_stats 1

  • Execute

If you have Semagic, you can do it directly in the client by going to Links -> Console
